NEW COMIC coming really really soon.
Saw some Katsina dolls at the Horniman Museum in South London and came home to draw one because i thought they were wonderful
Some Christmas window writing and Chalk board.
My reaction after arriving at work yesterday morning was just to paint the man, I’m not even sure why i did it. it felt like some sense of solidarity or connection was needed. Throughout the day and into the night social media was filled with Bowie and this morning artists blogs (who needed a few minutes to catch up) are filled with tributes to the man. Stewart Maconie yesterday on 6music said that pop music is normally about being in a club or a gang but he created something for the people who felt the didn’t belong anywhere, that i’m the only person who feels like this. I fell asleep on the sofa last night wondering how many other people were, at that very moment, sleepily thinking of him. Probably quite a few, and that makes me feel pretty darn good.
I don’t usually put my chalk board work up on this blog but a few people have asked to see some recent work so here you go. This was done a couple of weeks ago for Lululemon Athletica in Westfields centre.
Chalk for opening weekend board for Lulu Lemon, Richmond.
Here we go folks, the third drawing as part of my collaboration with Nomoi. Working with the theme of people/work/tools I wanted my drawings to tell a story, here i imagine a group of musicians accumulating a conga line and leading them on journey under water. Once again, i thought about the times i have worked as a musician, drawing what it feels like when you have an audience really with you. If you get it right, they will follow you anywhere.
