A Little History
The Tinker Box was found buried under a hay stack, deep in the south of France, near to the hill top town of Cordes sur Ciel.
Its owner, Monsieur Salma Gundi believed it belonged to one of his ancestors, who was a travelling performer from Avignon.
It has been kindly bequeathed to Miss A Douglas.
The sole proviso of this bequest is that the said Tinker Box should be used exclusively by travelling artists, minstrels, actors, comedians and other talented entertainers.
We hope that all performers will endeavor to maintain the artistic spirit with which this bequest, the Tinker Box, is imbued, and to respect, maintain and safeguard the traditions and heritage of this treasured legacy, according to the wishes of the much lamented late Monsieur Salma Gundi. (1888- 2012)
