Dean and Cass Married Scene - 12x19 (The Future)
They are MARRIED. Oh my God. I love this scene. Dean absolutely hates when Cass takes off the way he does, he can’t stand it. “Stop leaving me, stop leaving me, please stop leaving me”. And Cass is over here like “I have to make it up to him, I have to bring him something good, I have to prove my worth.”
This scene is hilarious because the whole time, Dean’s bringing Sam into it, and Sam’s like, “I disagree with everything you’re saying, Dean”. But Dean’s just saying “we” and “us” because it’s a lot harder to single himself out. Poor Dean has abandonment issues, and can you blame him, losing his parents the way he did, and after that losing basically EVERYBODY he cares about.
And he’s super paranoid about Cass not wanting him back. If you think back to the Purgatory thing, it was easier for him to BLAME HIMSELF and believe that Cass got stuck in Purgatory because HE FAILED, than it was for him to see the truth of the matter which was that Castiel stayed behind ON PURPOSE. “You remembered it the way you needed to.” He needed to see it like he failed miserably because knowing that Castiel didn’t want to go with him was harder for Dean to accept. It was an abandonment thing. He would rather imagine it like he’d abandoned Castiel (even if accidentally) than Castiel abandoned him.
So this scene brings up Dean’s abandonment issues. Not only did Castiel disappear, he thinks Castiel deliberately ignored him. He basically thinks Cass doesn’t care. And then Cass steals the colt and Dean even says “he came into my room and he played me”. He thought what Castiel said was a load of sh*t (I’m sorry Dean, I needed to come back with a win for you, etc).
Bottom line, these two are really bad at this. It’s no wonder they both thought their feelings weren’t reciprocated.
