Tiny canons: Details I didn't reveal
Here's some stuff about my trolls I was planning on developing/revealing later. :)
The closest thing Dallan has to a theme song is this: "Poltergeist Mix" by Binster. (It helps if you ignore the name and think about tech, not ghosts. ^_^ )
The villainous, "Merchant of War" version of adult Dallan has "Right Behind You" as his theme song.
Dallan grows up to be fairly tall, and he ends up working directly under the empress for better or worse.
He also ends up being very proficient at pailing. I told you he was a quick study, didn't I?
Dallan's lusus originally selected him because he thought he'd be easy to make money off of, but he ended up legitimately caring for him. His overprotectiveness comes from the fact that he knows Dallan's ideas are a goldmine.
In canon, Dallan is looking into creating soulbots/soul jars. A storyline was being planned in which he goes around to all of your ghost trolls asking if they'd like one.
The reason Dallan is okay with killing over a long distance is because he can mentally tell himself that it wasn't his fault, but the mine/bullet/bomb's. By his logic he's only killed twice in his life. His current body count is actually more like 87.
The closest thing Sissel has to a theme song is this: "The Prettiest Remix" by Jim Guthrie. It starts off a bit creepy but then...
Sissel and Yeddes end up in a chessmaster-style kismesitude.
In the future, Sissel plays a key part in a small revolution by being the only medic on either side and providing aid to the rebellion side when the establishment side had none. Among certain groups, "Didn't kill the medic" becomes slang for "Made a small mistake that ruined everything."
Sissel currently reads romance novels for two reasons. One, she's fairly lonely and two, most of the stuff she reads is pretty heavy material, and reading an awfully-written book gives her mind a much-needed break.
Sissel can perform minor operations without much pain to the patient now, but she doesn't advertise this publicly because she often gets rude, disrespectful trolls as patients, and she likes to make them as uncomfortable as possible on the table, which she couldn't do if she'd advertised as painless. She feels like it's the only way she can strike back at some trolls without getting in trouble.
The closest thing Yeddes has to a theme song is this: "V (For Extreme)" by Taka. Full of vigor, with classical elements.
If you asked Yeddes, he would tell you that he murdered his lusus. This is misleading. When he was about three sweeps, his lusus (an extremely strict and demanding black dragonfish) was speared seven times by a fishing party, directly in front of his eyes. She screamed at him for help, but when he tried to pull her free, the tearing-out of the spears killed her. He blames himself for this, and the image of the corpse is burned into his mind. It's the first nightmare he has when he sleeps without sopor.
The reason he's so strict to lowbloods is because after hearing what happened, a number of seven-sweep-old highbloods he'd never even met organized a search party to avenge his lusus, claiming it was their "duty to a fellow and a friend." But since his lusus had frequently threatened and bullied his lowblood friends, they didn't care too much, and some were actually relieved. Yeddes saw this as a massive betrayal and developed the idea that lowbloods are inherently honorless and thus must be kept working menial jobs where they can't let anyone down.
