galacticpridefulprincevegeta replied to your post “i need all y’all to stop calling oswald “fragile” if anything, he’s a...”
Also I feel the need to add that it's perfectly fine for people to show Oswald's vulnerability, or another character's softer side towards him regarding his damaged and small body. Sure, we all know he can take care of himself, but even he shows that he wishes someone would care for him from time to time. To not be fragile but trusting and vulnerable. To put that special moment in a fic is what some of us write and read for.
“regarding his damaged and small body” i’m sorry but do you know that the way you’re describing him is problematic? mostly the damaged part. like.
he’s disabled, don’t be afraid to say it. yes, he’s small in stature. yes, it’s okay to describe it. but PLEASE be aware of your words.
disabled people in fiction are usually either infantilized or fetishized. often, both.
vulnerability doesn’t mean fragility. emotions don’t mean weakness.
like, this whole thing is a fine line and it’s not something that people usually talk about which is partially why i’m being so vocal. i want you/people who are writing stuff like this, to think about this more.
you can have the special moment without being ableist. you can!! i promise!!
finally, i want to say that “little bird” is a nickname that has no basis in canon, and it’s frankly unoriginal. it’s boring and tired and ABLEIST and i will be happy to never see it again with my own two eyeballs.
