Kylee - We decided this was going to be our best summer... ever. And to make it our best summer ever, we were going to do as much exploring as possible. It all started with a Contiki tour to Italy in April, where we quickly found out we were great traveling companions.
Rhayne - We’d always separately loved hiking, and even travelling to a few destinations with our families and friends, but never had we taken that plunge together. Nervously, yet incredibly excited, we embarked on our journey to Italy. I knew instantly we’d be a perfect travelling match when we sat in those less than comfortable airplane seats and she turned to me and said the words that were just crossing my mind at the time, “Well... if this is how we die...” and we both shrugged.
K- We’ve spent the rest of the summer basking in the glow of Canada. Trudging up mountains in Banff, learning about dinos in Drumheller, exploring the Whiteshell and Steep Rock in Manitoba. We’ve made sure this summer has been a wild ride and we’ll be documenting it all of our not so distant past experiences here.
K - Rhayne really helped me fall in love with a lot of stuff that’s been outside my comfort zone such as: starting a fire without matches, tripping over tent pegs (#tentlyfe), stumbling down the sides of mountains, trying to stick my feet as far up the rafts ass as possible to not fall in to my swirling rocky death at horseshoe canyon.
R - And Kylee helped me embrace a lack of control in my environment, if we walked off the beaten path that was ok. If we forgot some gear, we’d be ok. If the trail disappeared, we’d find a way. And if something was scary, that was ok too--but we were still going to have to try it anyway haha. Any time a flash of fear hit me, or her, we’d turn to each other and look for balance, for strength.
K - This weekend we’re out on another adventure to Riding Mountain National Park and camping out at Wasagaming. We’ll be live blogging this one, so be prepared for some #tentlyfe moments as well as the journalling of us concurring of our fear of heights while scouring some shale cliffs.
