It has been a really long wait for these little guys to finish. I recently just got my hand drill working, it was a 110 so it needed a transformer before I could use it. The final stages of my tiny elephants project. Polishing out the rough edges, attaching the pins at the back. Today, they're going to the Children Book's Summit happening at the GT Toyota Cultural Center over at U.P. I'm still not posting anything from my wheel throwing pottery class, simply because I don't want it to be anti-climatic and I am waiting for the whole thing to finish before I share it. Last night however was a different story for me. Even after complaing of being tired as a result of wrestling with clay on the potters wheel, I found myself wanting to work on hand build clay the moment I returned here at the studio. So I finished detailing my tiny elephants with the underglaze then moved on to two new projects. A quick slab and stamp project and coming up with a series of pinch pot dishes. Somehow pottery always comes to my aid when I begin to feel down. It allows me to convert my heavy energy into something productive. The humble clay: wet, cold and maleable waiting to be formed into whatever my hands want them to be. My first clay project for 2017, while my 2016 works await final firing and glazing. Bone drying my cookie cut ornaments, used the little leaves stamp to add imprints.
