Like it happens in some Lovecraft stories, close interactions with the Old Ones can lead to a family "curse". In Howard’s case, all his descendants are more susceptible to anything related to these other beings and dimensions, they either attract it or are attracted to it, but is mostly minor stuff and almost never end of the world, but this is counteracted by them also inheriting Howard’s weirdness that protects them from the madness, so they get out in one piece, at least mentally. They also tend to get help from Knowhere the cat, who also send messages to Howie through them, which are still partly therapy, but also partly rage bait. Once Howard gets over his fear for his children after realizing they are protected by his weird genes or whatever he has, he mostly rages over those messages.
⭐Angelique theorizes that, more than a curse, it's another side effect of what happened to Howard, since those beings are timeless and exist in past, present and future at the same time, when he entered that space and was affected, all changes was from present him towards the future, and it couldn't differentiate him from his biological descendants. Howards thinks it makes sense but still calls it a curse.
⭐His descendants have a much lesser version of what Howard has, they have gut feelings about people and situations and following them usually saves them from misfortune, a few even have premonitions and see ghosts, but nothing more.
⭐Usually they tend to attract stuff more than search for it, they are just minding their own business and just stumble across them, for example, making friends with a painter or musician that later revealed themselves to be more than just a little exotic, accidentally acquiring a strange book with weird symbols, being on vacation and stopping by a strange seaside town or going in a scientific expedition to Antarctica that ended badly for everyone but them. To help them, Howard started a collection of different stuff (from books to objects) that he knows will one day be useful them.
⭐From the few that feel attracted to the strange, only one was an extreme case that lead to disappearance up until now, same with situations that lead to an almost end of the world event like the one Howard had to face, just one descendant had the misfortune to fall in this situation. I can show these oc's next post.
⭐Finally, Phil thinks (from what he knows about this character) that Knowledge the cat must have grown fond of Howard and that's why he helps his children so much. Angelique, on the other hand, thinks the cat must find some kind of entertainment from them. Whatever the case, and even if he rages about the messages he sends his way, deep down Howard is grateful towards that cat for looking over the children, in fact, when he’s close to his end, he follows his subconscious and goes out, finding Luckys bar and the cat, they spend the night just talking and playing one last time.
😅Anyway, "I" can't do any of the ships (one is spoiled by the fact that I see him and Phil's friendship similar to a dear one of mine from the past and I honestly should do an art vent about it and this game to get it out of my head a little but idk) and I don't want to bother doing an oc wife and do all the background 😵💫, so I'll let it free for everyone who he married and had children with, as long as I don't have to draw it you can do any ships and play with this concept as much as you like (if anyone likes it of course and want to use it in your fics or wathever else) 😊

Howard: ¡Wait a minute, this can't be right! ¡¿How do you know the name of that cat?
Child 2: ¡Hey dad, Knowhere the cat says hi! ¡And you wouldn't believe the night I had!
Howard: Oh please, not you too. ¿Are all my children destined to face some kind of doom? (And that damn weird cat, ¿What irritating words does he want to tell me now?)
Grandc 1: Grandpa, before I tell you about the weird experience I had, I have a message from your old friend, Knowhere the cat.
Howard: Oh no, not that damn cat again... ¡I swear he is involved in this mess in some way!
Phil: I will like to meet him and exchange some points about Howie here. Hahaha!
Howard: ... Traitor.
Grandc2: ¡Grandpa! ¡Message from the cat!
Howard: ¡¡AAAGH!! ¡Knowhere, you damn cat! ¡You better come here right NOW!
Grandc 2: ...grandpa is acting weird again... (The message doesn't even sound that bad)
Grandc3: ¿When is he not? That would surprise me more (and we are weird too yk)
