Not really?  The massive box office successes of the Nolan Batman series and Man of Steel clearly show that there is an audience for the cynical side of superhero mythology.  It's nice to get different flavors of superhero and not have all of them be able to throw quips around in the heat of the moment.  There's no reason for DC to copy Marvel's style of cinema, especially since Marvel is so good at it that DC would be outcompeted instantly---look at how well Green Lantern did, for example.  Blech.

Man of Steel made me cry like a baby because of its serious themes surrounding fathers and how they never really leave, even if they're gone.  It was a sad movie at its core, and lonely, because Superman is a lonely figure.  I was not expecting a superhero movie to make me cry like that, but it was definitely refreshing.  I'm looking forward to Dawn of Justice, and I know other people are, too.

Movies can be about more than just entertainment, even if they're about superheroes.  If you don't like that, then just avoid those types of films.
