So refreshing to see a Dickkory stan like me that liked the Dickbabs scenes. I found them cute and it was nice to see some of their past! I don't feel threatened at all. Dickkory is endgame even if it's a slowburn!
same, friend! the Dickbabs was fine and even cute to me, I don't and won't have a problem with their continuing relationship. it's a lot of interesting history between them that tells us a great deal about who Dick was and who he is now, so as Dick Grayson fan I'm happy about that. I think if I was more of a Barbara Gordon fan I would be less happy, because her scenes have consistently still only been about her history with Dick to some degree, and that's a pretty shitty way of writing women characters, especially a woman as incredible as Barbara. so I'm not crazy about Babs' general treatment on the show from that perspective, but maybe we'll get some more focus on her individual character some day.so yes as a Dickkory fan, I wasn't bothered by the scenes at all either. barely blinked an eye, honestly.
what does bother me is Kory in general being sidelined in very subtle ways that have nothing to do with her relationship with Dick. what I really dislike is how we don't see her receiving affection and care and coddling from others in the same way that the white women on the show receive it. while I don't think Kory would ever want to be coddled in that way, and very much prefers being in control of her needs and emotions, it's a visible contrast to see on screen, and it's exhausting to have to watch. so, whenever we do get proper Dickkory on this show, I hope it's how Kory deserves it: walls down, feelings raw, emotionally vulnerable, and mentally cared for. someone has to put her first, because she cannot always be putting herself first.
