What were your reactions seeing Mayhem live, musically?

"At that time I was more into thrash and death metal, so my first reaction to Mayhem was that it was chaotic and with the crappy sound. I did, however, get intrigued by the brutal force, and the whole aggressive concept made a big impact on me."

How did they stand out compared to the rest of the bands?

"You can't compare Mayhem to any other band. They were, as I've said before, a f*cking force of nature, and the music, and the stage appearance was unlike anything I had seen or heard before."

In the sound tape of the gig, you can clearly hear people talking about the pigheads and the smell. Do you remember how people reacted to this? This was the first time a band used such extreme scene props, right?

"Throughout the whole performance, I noticed the audience getting more and more wired. It was almost hypnotic in a way. I was just a kid and I was both freaked out and in awe at the same time. It felt almost electric and Mayhem had the audience totally mesmerised." - Tjodalv (Live in Jessheim booklet) 🦇
