is there a way to follow TMP without having the stories in your feed? EVERYONE POSTS THINGS AND MY FEED IS CONFUSED Tumblr’s interface is kind of crap it should be tabbed per person for prolific posters

I don't think so? :( If you just want the prompts themselves, you can go to the blog's main page and do a search for "prompt announcement." Or if you just want the prompt compilations, you can search the tag "compilation."

More fun besides the file transfer lag? This was really weird, randomly vanishing entire contents of folders + filesystem errors on top of that and such, and I don't think it was the SD card (though I reformatted it anyway and now get to recopy everything because lol have fun trying to fix a Microsoft filesystem in Linux). When I feel more like wrangling things, I might use Lily's SD card as a "will it read this other filesystem" guinea pig, because it claims exFAT only, but I question this :p.

It seems to have been one of a few possible apps, though I'm leaning toward the default Gallery, which seems to be really crap this time round. I found a lot of (rather informally reported, but still) things round the internets about it munching on files, and these were videos, but would have had thumbnails. It also kept making a 1.6 gig mess in .thumbnails, though the trick I found (delete mess, then make a new blank file (not folder) named .thumbnails in its place) seemed to work. I also replaced it (with QuickPic for now, looks promising) and froze it with Titanium Backup (I would not use an Android device without root/Titanium Backup, it makes so many frustrating things a lot less so), so if I lose files again I'll know it's either the card or another app.

So I started listening to "Sad Man's Tongue," and I was all, "Okay, so I know the boundaries of any given musical genre are pretty elastic, but really this doesn't sound--oh, hey, the electric guitars just kicked in! Objection withdrawn." Someone in the comments described it as "Motorhead mix[ed] with Johnny Cash," which seems about right to me.

I know once or twice I've mentioned that I really dig music that plays around with combining multiple genres and styles, so these are right up my alley. :) I think my fave is a toss-up between "Balrog Boogie" and the "Gimme Gimme Gimme" cover.

Also, it might’ve been your DNS cache needing to be cleared. (This is a different thing from your browser cache, and you have to go into the command line to clear it. /ipconfig flush DNS is what you type I think.

hmm. you cleared your dns cache, but did you switch DNS servers? Say you’re pulling bad data from your ISP’s DNS servers, deleting the cache is going to refresh your bad data with more bad data? You can set 8.8.8.8 for DNS on your router.

Yup, I flushed my DNS from the command line.

I didn't try changing servers. I'll try to remember that for next time. As it happens, my connection's already configured (at the machine, not the router) to use 8.8.8.8, but I could have let it go back to the ISP's default.

The thing is, though, I could ping or tracert www.tumblr.com and it resolved to an IP address, and visiting that IP address gave me Tumblr's "not found" page. Doesn't that rule out DNS problems? Since I can get some sort of connection using the information DNS returns?

Hm, a proxy. That might've worked. Thanks, I'll keep that in mind for next time.
