damn the way the whole “we don’t have to do this” scene reflects perfectly how opposite joel and ellie are about this whole cure thing. joel is out there, right in front of ellie, telling her that life, HER LIFE is more than chasing this hope for a cure, facing horrors and exposing herself to death for the hope of a better future when the now has so much to offer. and ellie doesn’t see it. ellie is like “what we’ve been through can’t be for nothing”, it’s not that she even hopes, it’s that she is too worn down to see any other path. and that’s what makes it so tragic. does ellie even believe in the cure at that point? i mean, she didn’t save riley, she didn’t save sam even tho she rubbed her own blood on his wound. she even openly asked that question to joel on episode 6 because she doubts. CAN’T THEY TELL YOU MORE CLEARLY THAT ELLIE WANTING TO GO THROUGH WITH THIS, IS FOR ALL THE GODDAMN BAD REASONS??!

absolutely insane to structure the show around the idea that yeah, it’s Love, but love can drive you to committing horrors and atrocities and violence you didn’t previously think you were capable of, love can be a force for decay and for Bad just as much as Good…. but real quick let’s do a quick pit stop and illuminate what real genuine peaceful romance and life could look like, even after the end of the world… what if these men could have a 17 year love story and we get to watch it. just as a little reminder of the other side.

This is my third year accidentally drawing art of couples around Valentine’s Day and completely not realizing it. I swear I’m not doing this on purpose!😂 Anywho, I’ve been loving The Last of Us show and I can’t WAIT for the Left Behind episode with these two dorks. Their story in Left Behind was one of my favourite parts of the game and I can’t wait to see what they do with it in live action!!!
