What's you're opinion on the last of us season 2?

I've got a very mixed take. I'm of the opinion that if someone wants a perfectly matched adaptation, that they should just go watch a playthrough. But there were so many parts of the second game that they just butchered when translating it to TV.

I say this as someone who genuinely loves The Last of Us Part II (even more than the first). But it is not a perfect game, so of course there are some things that they are going to change about it. They did so good with the first season with choosing what to keep and what to change. But it feels like they threw it all out the window with the second season.

Especially with the butchering of Tommy (my favorite character btw), Jesse, and Ellie. They were so much more intriguing in the game.

What happened to the conversation between Tommy and Ellie after Joel's death? Why was Dina present at Joel's death instead of Tommy? Why was the infected hoard attack necessary? Why did they give Maria and Tommy a son if they aren't going to utilize him interestingly? Why did they remove Jesse's "my friends problems are my problems" line when it was his most memorable line?

There are things that you can change about the second game to make it into a TV show. Like I said, the game is nowhere near perfect.

I could go on and on, I fear 💔.

TL;DR: I really really want to like it, but it has so many issues and I just wish they remained more faithful to the game.

the rest of my thoughts on tlou2 finale.

• for one, the absolute horror of ellie accidentally shooting a woman and that woman begging her to cut the baby out of her stomach with her dying breaths and then ellie failing because she doesn't know how.

i just know she was imagining it was dina beneath her instead of mel.

• speaking of dina and ellie, all the shit with them at the beginning was so messed up. how ellie was describing how she tortured nora & left her for dead & how joel did the same. how she told dina the truth about salt lake and dina couldn't even look at her. they make me ill.

• the conflict between ellie & jesse was done so well and showcased how different their motives were but how they still cared about each other despite that- they're the epitome of girl x guy friendship.

• when ellie was facing off against owen & mel & telling them to get her the map, she pulled out the classic joel line: "you're gonna point to where she is on the map, and then he's going to do the same, and they better fucking match." like father, like daughter.

• it hurt so bad when tommy found ellie over mel's body and he like touched her cheek and tries to comfort her, telling ellie he's got her and that she's ok. it parallels how joel was towards her after she killed david in season 1, but at the same time, it was so off, because no one can ever replace her joel, not even his brother.

• AND THEN, just when I thought they were safe, ABBY shows up again & shoots my GOAT jesse. WHAT??? on top of that, she threatens tommy, and then she sees ellie and is like, "I let you live, and you WASTED IT." then she points the gun at her and fires AND THEN THE SCREEN GOES BLACK??! Then it cuts to your typical wake up scene after a dream montage with abby & I was really confused because I thought that meant her hurting them was all a dream, and I got SO FUCKING EXCITED. And THEN, it shows "Seattle: day one." The scene that just happened occurred day three.

MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.
