Hoseok sighs deeply, enjoying the warmth of the sun as he laid on the roof of the building, the sounds of his comrades celebrating the success of their latest raid down below. Hoseok smiles as the sounds of their laughter travel up to his ears. It’s been awhile since he’s seen his crew so happy and worry free, enjoying themselves with the extra food they obtained. They’d have to do their usual border patrols soon, making sure no infected, military, or firefly had slipped into Hoseok’s territory, but for now, Hoseok would let them enjoy the canned food they earned.
It’s been a good day Hoseok decides, eyes closing as he continues sunbathing, a slight breeze blowing through. Things have been quiet for a good amount of time, with only a handful of runners attacking them. No casualties on Hoseok’s side thank goodness. There was that one time a bloater had wandered over, but Hoseok and his guys were able to deal with it.
Hoseok misses the thrill and excitement really, the quiet of the past few days putting him on edge. In this world quiet was never good. It’s unsettling really, and Hoseok thinks he’s spoken too soon when the cheering and celebrating stops. A loud “Boss!” puts him on his feet in seconds, pulling his half mask over the bottom half of his face, as he all but sprints down the fire escape, jumping the last ten feet or so.
He sees his crew crowded around an individual, all of them wide eyed at whoever it is. They make way for Hoseok, who stops the moment he sees the beaten and injured body at his feet. “Grab a first aid kit now!” He barks, all his lightheartedness and cheer gone. He crouches next to the wounded girl, hands resting on her shoulders gently as he examines her injuries.
It’s a face he hasn’t seen in a long time; a face he thought he’d never see again; a face that he’d never forget in a million years A flood of memories rush through his mind but Hoseok doesn’t have time to dwell on the past at the moment. He can hardly believe his eyes though, when the girl stares back at him, lips curving up in a smile.
“Holy shit.” He breathes. “It’s been a long fucking time, Wheein.”
