there's nothing progressive in my choice of BL ships, i just think it's hot when a smaller man fuck and dominate a man that's bigger and more handsome than him

every time i saw people hating on iemitsu or nana but actually embraced wholeheartedly (and excusing their crimes even) characters who actually killed others like xanxus or byakuran, i'm like "damn your priorities are skewed, buddy"

even worse when they're like "nana and iemitsu are the worst parents ever" when they're trying their best to raise tsuna with what they have

nana being a stay-at-home mom, while can be criticized as misogyny from amano-sensei's part, doesn't make her a terrible character

she's such a generous woman to a fault, but it's because this example of generosity that helps tsuna become a generous boy that he is, willingly accepting people who have done wrong to him while still being wary of them, a lesson he learned from seeing his mother's generosity got taken advantage of

and iemitsu, while indeed is a shitty father, is not borderline abusive... that one time he's really pissed off by tsuna's cowardice and throw a damn boulder on him is the only time that he actually gone overboard

that's when reborn come to the rescue and show tsuna to see iemitsu as a legitimate fighter and not just his Shitty Dad

it's a terrible way to show it of course, but this is just like those moments when you have to confront that your parents are imperfect but also human beings just like you

i'm not saying they're the perfect parents, if anything, because they're imperfect, tsuna is able to learn from them so he wouldn't end up becoming just like them lol

but the way fandom slander them like they're the worst parents ever existed is just... awful.

like maybe don't project your own personal issues on them?

even worse when they hate iemitsu and nana so much, they think tsuna is better off raised by the mafia world... like where did that logic come from? it kinda reeks of edgelord behavior, ngl

we literally got the best example as to WHY tsuna shouldn't be raised in the mafia world from birth, just look at xanxus. he's everything that's wrong about that world, being adopted out of poverty and despite everything timoteo did, is raised in the bloody world that concern itself only with power and domination

will he still end up like that if he's raised in a normal family? maybe, maybe not. but undeniably he did became like that because of his environment

i was looking through all of my hibayama art just now, and it's so clear how i tried so hard not to reduce or increase their size difference and maintain fidelity to their original design...

but to some people, that can also be a detriment to creative freedom to some extent

but i draw what i want to draw, and my philosophy is to capture what's already in the source material and put my own little spin on it

fidelity to the source material is what matters to me because i am always a fan first, shipper second

and nothing annoys me more than people changing an existing character's design or personality just to fit their own agenda 😤

(which is hypocritical of me but i digress, art is subjective after all, what annoys me doesn't ALWAYS annoys me if it's done in ways that i like)

all of this to say that i am indeed no better than any other fans in the fandom, that my own skewed perception can be just as annoying as people who just wanna play dolls with their favorite characters

everything is deep and cringe in its own ways hahah

i'm rereading kamonohashi ron no kindan suiri again together with Reborn and my GOD, where did all of that great sense of direction, pacing and action goes… i have to admit, the stiffer panel composition in kamonohashi ron really makes the story less… immersive to me

maybe people who read that manga first as their introduction of amano-sensei's works wouldn't feel that way, but as someone who LOVES Reborn with my whole heart? man, i just feel disappointed…

i still enjoyed the story, the cases and characters introduced are also pretty interesting on their own too, but the directing and pacing just falls a bit flat, you know? 🫤

idk maybe i'm too harsh, but this is also why i hope amano-sensei will continue writing stories

and even if sensei stop writing and just focused on being a character designer, i'll still owe my respect to sensei for inspiring me to take art seriously since i was a kid 😤🙏
