Letters from Rolan: The Apprenticeship: To Cal and Lia

Summary: Rolan writes Cal and Lia throughout his apprenticeship. This happens during the same time period as the letters he wrote to Tav in Part 1. Only ten letters are show of Rolan writing to his siblings.

This is done the same way in 10 x 100 word drabbles which shows a story through ten parts (letters) that are 100 words each.

you’re my better half, and my worse half. i would tear down the world to keep you safe. you know how to annoy me better than anyone else and yet i could never truly get mad at you. you’re now both taller and look older than me, but i’ll always remember you as the little kid who would follow me around. i had to discover things by myself, i went through everything first just so that you wouldn’t ever struggle; i would do it all over again for you. my parents didn’t make the same mistakes with you as they did with me and i’m glad. i treasure you. there’s a picture of us as kids on the back of my phone. i carry you everywhere with me. you’re a piece of me. you don’t know the world without me in it and i’m glad. when splitting cookies i would always give you the bigger half. even though you’re stronger than me now, you still give me your water bottles for me to open them up for you. i pray when it’s time i go first, because the mere idea of seeing the world without you breaks my heart apart.

i’m so grateful i get to see you grow.

i’ve loved you since before you were even born and i’ll love you forever.
