Did You Know - Advent Calendar Edition
On the latest episode of The Crafty Toads podcast we introduced the Mini Skein Advent Calendars we are offering this year and Mary Beth surprised Helen by adding a little “Did You Know” section all about Advent Calendars.
Here are a few of the fun facts she shared with all of us:
1. Did you know...the very first Advent Calendar was created by Gerhard Lang? It was a card with 24 small illustrations to glue on and he called it the Munich Calendar. It was not a huge success.
2. Did you know...in 1946 Richard Sellmer focused on the US Market and got the US Patent for Advent Calendars?
3. Did you know...Cadbury produced the first chocolate Advent Calendar in 1958?
4. Did you know...Gengenbach, Germany has the world’s largest Advent Calendar? The town hall has 24 windows facing the square which they turn into a giant Advent Calendar every year.
New bucket list item go see the Advent Calendar in Gengenbach! It’s right on the edge of the Black Forest so I could then go live out all my fairytale dreams.
