I love toads :) at this time of year in the U.K. they are migrating back to their breeding ponds, and unfortunately often getting squished by cars on the way. The brilliant charity Froglife coordinates Toads on Roads volunteers who help them to safety on damp Spring evenings... Saturday 26th March 2016

109 toads and 34 frogs saved off the roads and taken to the safety of the pond. Far too many dead on the toads. Lots of big adults came out tonight because it has been raining all day.

Tuesday 22nd March 2016

Tonight we saved a total of 35 toads and 15 frogs. Quite a few dead on the roads unfortunately, quite a few big females carrying their spawn to the pond that didn’t make it. ☹️  Can’t be everywhere at once but we tried our best.

We’re expecting more toads out when it gets a little bit warmer and after a bit of rain. it’s been unusually dry recently.

This blog has been created to record the activities carried out by a few of the volunteers of The British Herpetological Society and ARG UK in Scotland, UK.

The memebers of who are on this blog currently are based in Dundee, Scotland and so most of the posts will be based around that georgraphy. More may be added at a later date.
