ok right up front, i haven't given this ship an extremely lot of thought but i see it and i love it and i wish we had seen more of it, more of them on screen
now, we all know that Sam and Janet are Cassie's moms, so there's that. they have this huuuge connection because of that little alien girl that they rescued (sidenote, "Singularity" is one of my favorite episodes. it's just. so. good. and emotional). Right from the bat Sam was an attachement figure for Cassie, and Janet came in close second. They both cared SO MUCH for her as soon as they laid eyes on her that they went "welp, we're mothers now."
I think they are an AMAZING power couple, both are hypercompetent in their respective fields (yes i know the medical stuff in stargate was horribly written, but that's not Janet's fault, that's the writers' fault), they both had extremely shitty relationships in the past (remember Jonas? That nuthead Sam was engaged to? and Janet is divorced, I always headcanon that it had been an extremely toxic relationship) so when they met at the SGC, and got to know each other a bit better, they both went "oh".
Maybe they didn't even realize just how deep their connection was, maybe they thought they were drawn towards each other because they were two women in important positions in the SGC, which was super men dominated (it isn't anymore, Sam is running shit now), but NEWSFLASH! THEY ARE ACTUALLY IN LOVE!

I don't think Janet thought she would ever get married again after the shitshow with her ex. But she probably also thought she'd never become a mother...

buuuut then she joined the SGC, she met Sam, she adopted Cassie, things changed A Lot.
Still, she doesn't give marriage another thought and lives happily with Sam, until one evening Sam takes her out on an extra nice date, Sam is super nervous for some reason, and halfway through dessert it finally clicks. Sam is so nervous she almost can't bring herself to ask the question but Janet looks at her with so much warmth and heart eyes that she finally manages to say "pls marry me? Cassie already agreed"
and they lived happily ever after
uuuh, that's all the toughts i have on them now, but if you throw anything at me i might come up with some more ideas :)
I watched the season 2 rebels finale on my phone in my cousins room while pretending to be asleep. i nearly went apeshit at the end but I couldnt bc i was a) pretending to sleep and b) on the top bunk of my cousins super tall bunk bed. good times :')
