There is a pause, the words taste ashy in his mouth. He knew that much.

The sudden comment from Super Rock almost made him jump from the chair he was rocking without noticing. Of course he was going to be okay, even if everyone abandoned him he wouldn't be in trouble, he could go wherever he wanted and do nothing all day if he decided to.

It's just that, maybe, well, it would be a bit lonely.

Honestly, my worst fear about adaptations is turning the characters into something totally different than what they actually are. I mean, it bothers me a bit that Harry (Potter) in the movies was not this sarcastic amazing little shit he is in the books, but I can tolerate it (ts reference?). But there are some adaptations where they screw up the entire essence of the characters. I really hope that doesn't happen with Red Queen bc it's my comfort books and characters. Oh, and I felt so connected with Mare while reading bc I am a lot like her and if the movie doesn't bring me that I will freak the f*ck out

Yeah I feel you. I’m with you on the Mare characterization. If they sanitize her anger to make her more palatable to white audiences I will hate it right off the bat. Or if they turn Cal into a toxic alpha male, or Maven into a J*ghead pretentious emo teen... there’s a big margin to fail there lmao. 

idk, if I was involved in the process I would look at some of The Wilds writing staff and hire one or two of them because I’ve never seen such an accurate, respectful portrayal of female anger and teenage girls in general. I’ll remain hopeful though. I did that for S&B and so far everything is perfect.
