😭My daughter, Farah, has a severe renal tubular disorder that causes dangerously low potassium levels and blood acidity. The condition can lead to extreme weakness, muscle paralysis, cardiac complications, and is considered a form of chronic kidney failure. She has been admitted to the ICU twice after life-threatening cardiac episodes. Medical reports confirm that she urgently needs continuous treatment and close monitoring, but the medications and medical services she depends on are unavailable💔🥹
🆘Today, we urgently need €660 to cover:

📺 An imaging scan required to assess her condition.

I reached out to Wesal today because I hadn't heard from her in a couple of days, which doesn't happen often, and she brought me this alarming news. Farah is back in the hospital:
"Farah had to undergo an urgent procedure and remains in the hospital. Her condition deteriorated—her potassium levels dropped to 2.2—forcing us to keep her in the hospital to receive intravenous potassium."
These are extremely low levels of potassium, putting Farah at risk of cardiac arrest. Intravenous supplementation of potassium must be done slowly - going too fast also endangers one's heart. This means Farah has to stay at the hospital, which, for a child like her, is very distressing. It is distressing for Wesal too.
"I feel like I am the one who will collapse to the ground, dead. I simply don't have the energy left; I am not a superhuman robot—I am a human being with limited stamina. The strain of standing, the constant vigilance and caution, and the need to monitor the IV drip—watching it fall drop by drop because the flow rate cannot be increased without risking adverse effects on the heart—have all taken their toll."
This is the second time that Farah has been admitted to hospital in a very short time. It is very costly, but there is no other option. The potassium supplements that Farah should be receiving have been unavailable for months now. We must keep Farah alive so she can be evacuated by the WHO when the opportunity arises.

This is definitely ‘a discussion for another day’ type of post but I can’t help think about how much criticism Qatar copped for its hosting of the World Cup (and some of it was very valid) but instead of focusing that criticism of Qatar on its use of migrant slave labour to build those stadiums, a lot of it was the same racist projection of Qatar being homophobic and anti-women due to being an Arab/Muslim country but these same western liberals are silent over the US hosting the World Cup despite also being misogynistic and homophobic!
