Cuba, l’île aux oiseaux
Cuba est réputée pour son extraordinaire avifaune. Sur les 354 espèces recensées, 232 vivent en permanence sur le territoire cubain et 25 sont endémiques.
On parle d’une espèce qu’elle est endémique lorsqu’elle provient d’une certaine région du monde, bien délimitée, et que l’on ne peut la trouver nulle part ailleurs.
Parmi les espèces propres à Cuba, on compte le Tocororo, l’oiseau national, dont le plumage bleu, blanc et rouge rappelle les couleurs du drapeau cubain.
