Americans want sex education out of schools, which has proven to decrease teen pregnancy and STIs. No sex education increases both. Contraceptives are a battle to get ahold of, except for condoms (sometimes), and men bitch about them. Every single one of my friends has FOUGHT with their boyfriend about using condoms. "They're itchy. They're uncomfortable. They ruin the sensation. Just take birth control." So it comes down to the woman having to take all the responsibility, but not the man who gets her pregnant. He can walk away, and now she can be forced to carry to term. Only 17% of women get the FULL child support they're promised, too. Billions in child support payments go unpaid/uncollected every year because fathers find ways around it or to reduce it. And before someone argues that mothers are favoured in court, yes, 80% of divorced women have custody, but 60% of men get custody in contested cases. Nearly 50% of men willingly give up custody and don't bother taking it to court. Most custody battles are settled outside of court, and in just over half of all divorce cases, the parents mutually decide that the mother will take the primary custodial role. This doesn't even account for the over 500,000 orphans in America who will never be adopted, and statistically have less opportunities in life and are more likely to develop mental illnesses, financial struggles, and/or end up on government support. It's actually going to cost taxpayers MORE than it would to let women get abortions. Moreover, both men and women need to get psychological evaluations before getting either a vasectomy or a tubal ligation/hysterectomy (as well as their partner's consent), and they can STILL be rejected. So America doesn't enforce men to pay full child support, wants sex ed out of schools, makes contraceptives difficult or in some cases impossible to acquire, and now they want to prohibit abortions. What a clown country, and run by men who think like this.
