No one knows where the toddler came from. Either a past lover or just snatched from somewhere.
At first, he insists he doesn't like children. "They're loud, sticky, and ask too many questions." Five minutes later he's letting one sit on his shoulders.
The toddler isn't intimidated by the world's strongest Awakened. They march right up to him. "Up." "...Was that an order?" Tiny nod. "...Fine."
He has absolutely no idea how to entertain a child. So he accidentally teaches them ridiculous things. "If anyone steals your cookie..." "...bite them." "KAYDEN!" "What? Self-defense starts young."
He's surprisingly patient. Adults annoy him. Toddlers? They genuinely don't know better. If they spill juice all over him, he just sighs. "...You owe me another shirt."
Becomes the designated jungle gym. His back? Mountain. Legs? Obstacle course. Hair? Apparently handles. "...Am I furniture now?"
Secretly melts when tiny hands reach for him. He pretends not to notice. But every single time... He picks them up.
If the toddler falls... They're caught before they even realize it. His reflexes are simply unfair. "...Gravity loses today."
The child discovers his cat form. Their eyes become dinner plates. "KITTYYYYY!" Suddenly he's being carried around upside down. Forced into tea parties. Wearing tiny doll hats. "...This is humiliating." Yet he never transforms back.
He absolutely uses the cat form for naps with them. Toddler curled against his fluffy stomach. Tiny fingers buried in his fur. Kayden pretends he's trapped. "...Guess I can't move." He's purring. He denies it.
If someone makes the toddler cry... The room becomes terrifyingly silent. Kayden slowly turns. "Explain." The poor adult suddenly understands why he's considered one of the strongest people alive.
Doesn't understand toddler logic. "Why are you crying?" "Blue cup." "...Use the blue cup." "NOOOO!" "...Someone explain the rules."
The toddler starts copying him. Arms crossed. Little scowl. Tiny "Hmph." Everyone laughs. Kayden pretends to be offended. "...I do not look like that."
The child calls him weird nicknames. "Kay." "Kitty." "Mr. Grumpy." The last one sticks. He's never recovering from it.
He never admits how protective he is. Until the toddler wanders too close to a busy road. Suddenly he's there in less than a heartbeat. Scoops them up. Holds them a little tighter than usual. "...Stay where I can see you." His voice is unusually quiet.
Bedtime? "Tell me a story." "...I don't know stories." "Please." Thirty minutes later he's dramatically recounting one of his battles. The toddler falls asleep halfway through. He keeps talking anyway.
He's surprisingly good at reading expressions. One little pout? "You're hungry." One yawn? "Nap." One suspicious silence? "...What did you break?"
Every time they ask him to pick them up, he pretends to think about it. "Hmm..." Tiny arms stay stretched toward him. Tiny lip wobbles. "...You're using emotional manipulation." He picks them up anyway.
They love playing with his hair. It's surprisingly soft. Little fingers braid random sections. Put tiny clips in it. Somehow manage to make him look ridiculous. He only realizes after Jiwoo bursts out laughing. "...You could've told me."
The toddler likes comparing hand sizes. They press their tiny palm against his."Mine's little." "...You're three." "Yours is biiiiig."He quietly closes his fingers around theirs for a second before letting go.
Gives terrible life advice. "If someone annoys you..." "Punch?" "...No." Pause. "...Only if they deserve it."
The toddler somehow learns that sitting in his lap guarantees warmth. They'll toddle over with a blanket. Climb aboard without asking. Fall asleep in minutes. Kayden sits frozen. "...Now I'm hostage." Nobody believes he's actually complaining.
Jiwoo walks in one afternoon expecting complete chaos. Instead, he finds Kayden sitting on the couch, asleep. The toddler is sprawled across his chest. One tiny hand tangled in Kayden's hair. The TV is quietly playing cartoons. Jiwoo smiles. "I knew it..." Kayden opens one eye. "...Say one word and I'll deny everything."
The toddler genuinely believes Kayden is their cat. "My kitty." Kayden nearly chokes every time. Your kitty? He's the strongest Awakened in the world. "...Absolutely not." The toddler hugs him tighter. "My kitty." "...This is slander."
They carry him around everywhere. Under one arm. Like a fuzzy loaf of bread. Kayden absolutely hates it. "...Support my hind legs!" The toddler hears nothing but little meows. "You're so cute!" He has never felt so disrespected.
Whenever the toddler cries... They immediately look around. "...Kitty?" Kayden appears seemingly out of nowhere. Jumps onto their lap. Rubs his head under their chin. The tears stop almost instantly. He'll never admit he does it on purpose.
Story time always ends the same way. The toddler lies on the couch. Kayden curls into a warm little loaf against their stomach. The vibration of his purring mixes with the sound of the book being read. Within minutes... They're both asleep.
His tail is their favorite toy.
Swish...Tiny grab - Swish...Tiny grab. Kayden sighs:"...You know that's attached to me."
