My daughter spent her first night with no pull-ups! And no accidents (so far). She just turned 4. Any tips on how to be successful for this transition? We put a potty in her room and she used it once in the night.
Master Mom Sounds to me like you are handling things perfectly. A potty in the room is a great idea!
Rewards are always a great incentive in motivating a preschool aged child. Rewards for a 4 year old are simple. Praise, hugs, and high fives are reward enough for some children. For others stamps or stickers work well. Try setting a goal with Elsa. If she goes 5 nights without an accident and earns 5 stickers you will go......get an ice cream, buy annew book or small toy, or go somewhere special. The incentive has to be something she would really enjoy.
If she helps to set the goal and pick the reward it will be a great motivator. You are well on your way to a diaper free home!

H2O, Songza, and some little-tooshy Potties.
I seem to have a water issue on my desk at work. (My house is the same way - I have to write 'B's on my partially-drank water bottles and put them in the fridge). The hubby loooooooves the habit (not). :)
Did you notice my apples, banana, and string cheese? :) OH and my KU cup? That's right. Healthy snacks and cheering for the best college basketball team.
It reminds me of the little girl in Signs. You never know when aliens may attack. Thanks M. Night Shyamalan.
Moral of the story: drink more water? :) FINISH THE BOTTLE?!

I am also pretty excited to have finally downloaded (thanks to my brother's Tweet) Songza. It is free, ad-free, and I have not been slapped on the hand for 'skipping' too many times (PANDORA, I am talking about you)!
It made me laugh the first time I opened it (last night around 11pm) because it had a category for 'looking at photos of your ex'.

I have also decided it was time to find L a potty! From what I have read, usually you potty train between 22 and 30 months. She is about 16 months and I do not see any harm in having a potty around for her to sit on and get used to for awhile. Considering, she stands up in the tub (right after I place her in it) and pees it might be a good time to transition. :)
It is an interesting thing to be shopping for - there are so many. I thought about letting her use a litter box but that probably is not fair. ;)
Some are animals, some work as step stools, some have toilet paper storage and reading material drawers, some make sounds, some are portable, and I have seen some on rockers. There are other things like 'tinkle targets', 'reward stickers', 'wipes', soaps, and potty books. Oh my goodness - there are so many things. I should get into the potty-training accessory inventing business.
Here are some that I have found (and as I do research I keep thinking 'boy, I sure am glad I do not have to train a boy):
The PRIMO 4-In-1 Soft Seat Toilet Trainer (~$25) seems to be awesome since it works as a potty, a step stool and a detachable seat for when she is ready for the big-girl potty. The name says it is a 4-in-1 but I only count three. Am I crazy? I wish they had pink.
The Fisher-Price Cheer for Me Potty (~$28) is a more fun looking potty (than the previous). "Provides realistic toilet elements mixed with fun rewards and encouragement. Includes a retractable toilet paper roll holder and a fully functioning seat with lid. Toddlers are rewarded with five phrases and two sing along training songs". How adorable is this potty? The only problem I foresee is L pulling all the toilet paper off and playing with it - as she does now. She is in a wipe her face/clean the floor phase.
The Fisher Price Ducky Fun 3-in-1 Potty (~$25) has duck feet and looks awesome. "Music rewards success and motivates return trips." WHAT! Amazing. I would pee in this. Dang, it only takes up to 100 pounds - I cannot quite make it (chuckle). This 3-in-1 makes sense. It works as a potty, a step stool and the seat detaches to go in the big-girl potty. We do not want her falling in, of course.
The Safety 1st Little Lion Potty Partner (~$25) made me do a fist pump dance because it looks like Daniel Tiger - L's favorite PBS character. Then, I stared at it perplexedly because it was a sphere. It has a removable seat to fit the big-girl potty but it does not make sounds or work as a step stool (that would not be good - standing on a ball - wooo - sounds like a work out not a good idea).
The Summer Infant Story Time Potty (~$28) is super cute, comes with a story (and a slot to hold it) and "has an interactive panel that reads the story to the child that keeps them engaged while trying to go potty. Other buttons provide rewarding phrases for additional encouragement." It also works as a potty, step stool, and removable seat. L would probably put the story in the potty and pee on it.
Lastly, there is the Princess Potty Chair (~$65). This one made me giggle for a long time and think the hubby would probably love this for himself. "With high quality, hand painted and hand carved, they will want to use this potty chair all the time! Features toilet paper & magazine holder." This one looks a little... wooden and.. not comfy. As cute as the idea seems, I think we will have to pass on this one - especially since it is so expensive for a wood box.
My ideal potty would be the duck that is actually Daniel Tiger. I cannot decide between the Ducky Potty and the Cheer for Me Potty. They are both Fisher Price and the Duck would probably be taller and take slightly more room. However, I could be wrong - the seats are probably the same width. I also thought about the sounds/music - these could get annoying - then I realized I could always take the batteries out... :)
