She had braced for another one of his leaps to another timeline, but instead his machinery fizzles, spurts, and backfires, throwing him to the ground. Caitlyn scowls, then takes a couple of careful steps towards him.
“Did you really expect to escape my reach plodding along on streaks of good luck that you attribute to ‘technological genius?’”
Caitlyn stands over him, her rifle directed straight towards his chest. Surges of hextech currents ripple all across PEARL, although she knows the suit will weather the storm - after all, it had been designed for HER future partner, not this temporal joyrider.
And yet, why had it taken so long? Twenty-three dimensions and at least two ruptured timelines, one of which was almost eaten by its own paradox, until he finally made a mistake large enough for her to catch onto him. Did he really have more skill than she gave him credit?
