I'm rewatching TWD right now and I can't stop thinking about how Shane is likely what Joel was like in the years that we don't see him. The twenty years between Sarah's death and when the story picks back up in Boston.

How Shane has a hyper focus on keeping Lori and Carl alive and how nothing and no one else matters and how that was likely the same for Joel, except his focus was probably on Tommy and maybe whoever else made it into their group for the time being.

And I think it's easier to "forgive" Joel because we have no counterpart like Rick in the series. We don't see Tommy arguing with Joel over what's right and what's wrong, if there even was any arguing to begin with. I imagine Tommy gave Joel a LOT of freeway and chalking things up to grief and the general chaos of the world as they knew it ending in real time.

Anyway, I just think there are probably many parallels between Shane and Joel and their ruthlesness when it comes to protecting what they hold most dear to their heart.

You know how for the game, we got backstage footage of Troy and Ashley and Laura talking about how fucking awful it was for them to shoot that scene? How Laura was crying during the filming of that scene because she had to listen to her long-time friend cry like that?

I hope we get an interview with Pedro and Bella talking about what it was like for them, shooting that. Their bond is so deep and they're so protective of each other. I bet it was just as hard for them as it was for the OG actors...

Just a quick head's up: I likely won't be posting anything original for a while. I haven't in months, and anytime I try to sit down and write something, nothing comes.

So all of my writing is on hiatus for an unspecified amount of time. I will still be reblogging fics when I can find the time and motivation.

There are so many fics in my drafts from other people just waiting to be read. How am I ever gonna catch up. (Yes, what a very luxurious problem to have. I know.)

Also there's this one fic that was written so well it actually made me cry. And we're not talking a sad fic. Nope, it was smut. So good that it made me CRY. How does one find the words for that kind of feedback???

Anyway. Fanfiction is amazing and I love every single writer out there. Y'all are fucking magicians. I love u.

Just thinking about how I knew nothing about The Last of Us up until this year, then only watched the show because oh hey, I like fungi and zombies, seems like a good watch? And then this whole new obsession hole opened itself up and swallowed me whole.

Now here I am, having watched the show three times, mercilessly addicted to Pedro Pascal, currently on my second play-through of the game. On PC.

Which means no, I can't play TLOU 2 until next summer when it launches on PC. Which is when the second season drops.

And I have *learned* things. About TLOU 2. And just. Nope. Uh-uh.

Anyone else ever look at a piece of media and think "I want to dive into this so badly, but I know it'll consume me fully and I will not want to spend any of my time doing anything else that isn't spending time on THIS" and then not engage with it because you know you don't have the time to experience it the way you want to?

Cause that's me a lot these days. So much stuff I wanna get into so badly. So so badly. (Like actually fully watching the Interview With a Vampire series or Off Campus or Project Hail Mary) And I?? Don't have the time for it???

And since we're on the topic, can I just say, it's also extremely strange to not be dependent on a hyper fixation to endure life??? What do you MEAN I have somehow reached a level of content where living is okay without a hyper fixation occupying my brain at ALL times???

Healing is such a strange experience sometimes

I miss writing and I miss reading and I miss commenting on stuff I’ve read deeper than the superficial compliment that is heartfelt but doesn’t dive into the story the way I want to.

Having a job that I love and am good at is fucking fantastic but fuck me am I short on time now

There aren’t enough hours in a day or week or month to partake in all of my hobbies

Who knew all it would take to get me to write again is a new hyperfixation?

Only God knows if this fic will see a proper end but it's all there. In my head. Lined out. Just gotta sit my ass down to write it.
