Tohanto his marke
Nipmuc. Tohanto (also spelled Tahanto, and also known as George Tahanto) found his homeplaces in Nashaway territory, near Lancaster, Massachusetts and along the Nashua river from northern parts of so-called Central Massachusetts into southern so-called New Hampshire.
This document, signed October 15, 1668 bears Tohanto’s mark on a warrant for the arrest of a settler accused of participating in distributing alcohol to Natives.
