About time the Maestro gets some asks: Any theories of how the second season might progress?

ahh thank you! you honor me 😅

i have, of course, been thinking about this a lot since friday haha. and it’s nearly impossible to say, really, aside from the little nuggets in that DeKnight interview (Ashur "unleashed," Cornelia needing to find a Roman man & to find out what happened to her husband, fallout from Achillia & Tarchon’s roll in the hay)—i got some things right this season, but was way off base on plenty of others!

i do wonder whether we’ll see more repetitions like we saw in season one, up to the very end, and i see some potential areas where Vengeance echoes might arise: Cornelia & Cossutia both finding themselves husbandless & in a precarious situation in Roman society reminds me of Lucretia & Ilithyia—perhaps they will grow closer and work together to get rid of Uncle Servius & Proculus; meanwhile Viridia gradually coming to realize that the man she loves murdered her father reminds me a lot of Seppia & Glaber. obviously not saying these are one-to-one parallels or that outcomes will be the same but it’s something i’ll surely be tracking! (also possible & even likely they break out of this pattern entirely.)

i also wonder how much more involved Korris, Hilara, Achillia, et al will get in Ashur’s schemes/problems, and how much that will increase discontent among the ranks. Hilara & Messia’s argument about Gabinius’ death in the finale put a point on that (“If it were discovered that I—” “All with a hand in it would suffer.”) and now there’s another high-profile death to cover up. the more "unleashed" Ashur gets, the more his house will be implicated—and that did not work out well for his predecessor. i think we will see more betrayals & manipulations within the house next season as a result of this.

i do believe that the Cilicians will be a much bigger deal going forward, with Gabinius & Pompey out of the picture & given their bogeyman status in season one. as for the alternate history of it all, that could really go anywhere!! i feel underqualified to talk about it tbh.

on the gladiator side it’s much hazier for me. i don’t think Tarchillia will be a romance for the ages. i hope we get a new face or two in the ludus, and/or for Erato and Ephesius to have a bit more to do (likely Ashur's dirty work).

speaking of wishlist items: i want to see Cornelia scheme & really have to get her hands dirty a la Lucretia & Ilithyia—she’s so wealthy & powerful she didn’t need to get in the mud herself in season one, but all bets are off now… and then i hope she dies in Ashur’s villa, because no temporary occupant should be allowed to escape. and i hope we get a lot more of Galatea!! i assume we will.

Yes! Three times actually! :D In 2019 in Poland (Warsaw); in 2022 in Germany (Berlin Spandau <3); and this year (2023) in Sweden (Stockholm)!

All these are still of my favourite concerts ever, especially the one in Stockholm because I'm still not over how insanely good the setlist was :D

Absolutely!! It's been awhile since I've written for any of these characters! It's nice to revisit them <3

Stein, Marie, and Medusa with a touchy/clingy S/O:

Stein: Stein loves to invade people’s personal space to scare them or annoy them, but with a touchy partner, he clams up. He isn’t used to people showing him affection like that and he’s not sure how to react to it. He might push his partner away for a while, and might have to ask for some space, but really it just opened up a new fear for him that he might lose his partner and thus would lose the one person who is giving him that affection. As the relationship progresses, he’ll get more used to hugging and constant hand-holding. He might even casually start being a bit clingy with his s/o as well, but only in light-hearted scenarios. It takes him a long time to get used to any relationship, but once he feels comfortable enough to be committed to someone, he’ll relish in any of their affection.

Marie: Marie gives just as much physical affection in return. She has always been a hopeless romantic and her strength and commitment have scared a lot of her past partners away. So when she’s with someone who physically shows just how much they like her, she feels adored. She loves that sense of always knowing when her partner is there. Marie has a tendency to be a bit clingy herself, so sometimes having a partner like this could result in a little bit of codependency until boundaries are set, but overall, this is the kind of affection Marie adores the most.

Medusa: Medusa is strange about physical affection. She’s used to using it to be manipulative and get her way with a lot, so when someone is showing her affection in a genuine way, she’s not sure how to act. At first she thinks her partner is trying to manipulate her in some way and she laughs, telling them to just ask for what they want instead of trying to seduce her into it. When her partner explains that they just like being close to her and that the only thing they want is to hug her or cuddle her, she’s baffled by it and doesn’t really know how to act for a while. Eventually she gets used to it and likes to gloat just a bit about how much her s/o shows they love her. It’s very gratifying once she’s used to it.

I think Eren is gonna sacrifice himself. I wouldn't like him to die, but Isayamas first plan was to kill most of the main cast, and it could be that he works together with Willy to make it seem like he is the only villain of the world, and when he's dead the other Eldians can remain free of guilt? I'd love to hear your opinion on that. :)

Maybe. Eren is going to die in 4 years anyway, and I think that’s what will mark the true ending of snk. The 2000 Year calculation (TM) means Eren’s death = Year 858 = Exactly 2000 years after Ymir Fritz supposedly got the Power of the Titans. I recommend looking into this. If it does, it really makes sense. Until then though, I can’t say how Eren will behave.
