I started reading the Belgariad with accents for some races- Cliché Viking for Cherek, American for Sendaria, English for Mimbrates, Scottish for Asturians and Italian for Tolnedrans.
Anyway, I kept this up for Queen of Sorcery, and now my voice claim thing for Lelldorin’s uncle is Billy Connelly, and Mandorallan’s is Benedict Cumberbatch, mainly because his description in the book screams BBC Sherlock Holmes.
I’m not sure why I’m posting this, I just felt like sharing it. I’m happy to explain my reasoning behind some of the actions, though they can all be summed up as being the real life country that that particular country reminds me of the most. A slight artistic license was taken with Tolnedra, though, since I don’t know what actual Ancient Romans sounded like, and that’s the culture that Tolnedra strongly reminds me of.
