Please someone make a fan art of Tom Lynn's evil yellow horse but in the style of that one Catcher in the Rye Cover
as an eighth grader this book gave me inconceivable, unkillable, indescribable brain worms. it fundamentally changed me and formed my interests in media, music, and - for better or for worse - men. it is literally 60% of the reason i am the person i am today. do i recommend it? ehhhh. but i love it so deeply and for some reason i’ve never posted fan art for it so here. we seem to have gotten nowhere. mr. tom lynn i may draw your acotar counterpart more often than you but you will always always always have my heart. even though u should probably be in jail
FIRE AND HEMLOCK READALONG
O I forbid you, maidens all That wear gold in your hair To come or go by Caterhaugh For young Tam Lin is there...
On OCTOBER 7TH, I will be starting my annual reread of Fire and Hemlock by Diana Wynne Jones, and I want to turn it into a readalong/book club! I'll be reading a chapter a day, which will end on November 1st, and posting my recap as I go. I'm inviting anyone to join me, whether you've already read the book or want to discover it for the first time. (It should be fairly accessible on Libby, your local library, or an online archive if you're comfortable with downloading from those kinds of sites!)
My sales pitch for F&H:
Polly Whittacker has two sets of memories. In the first, things are boringly normal; in the second, her life is entangled with the mysterious, complicated cellist Thomas Lynn. One day, the second set of memories overpowers the first, and Polly knows something is very wrong. Someone has been trying to make her forget Tom - whose life, she realizes, is at supernatural risk. (from Amazon)
For fans of: slice of life, subtle magics, fae folk, the pains/joys of growing up, complex female characters, identity and memory, confusing but satisfying endings.
Warnings for: emotionally abusive family relationships, the central "romance" (?) can be problematic to some (but also that's a theme and something I love discussing), a confusing ending. Like really confusing.
I'll be tracking #fh readalong and the general #fire and hemlock tag if you want to join in. If so, I'll see you on October 7th!
Dear Polly, Tom wishes you, for some reason I can't understand, to consider the human back. He says there are many other matters you should consider too, but that was a particularly glaring example. He invites you, he says, to walk along a beach this summer and watch the male citizens there sunning themselves. There you will see backs - backs stringy, backs bulging, and backs with ingrained dirt. You will find, he says, yellow skin, blackheads, pimples, enlarged pores and tufts of hair. This is making me ill, but Tom says go on. Peeling sunburn, warts, boils, moles, midge bites and floppy rolls of skin. Even a back without these blemishes, he claims, seldom or never ripples, unless with gooseflesh. In fact, he defies you to find an inch of silk or a single powerful muscle in any hundred yards of average sunbathers. I hope you know what all this is about, because I don't. I think you should stay away from the seaside if you can. Yours ever, Sam
Diana Wynne Jones, "Fire and Hemlock" (In which Polly writes a story including the line "the smooth, powerful muscles rippling under the silken skin of his back" and Tom via Sam replies with the above.)

“To love someone enough to let them go, you had to let them go forever or you did not love them that much.”
Have not had much time for personal drawing, so here are some crappy photos taken off my notepad from meeting sketches.
I'm freaking crying. I remembered how I used to play Avatar High on the-n.com (now teennick.com) when I was a preteen, so to distract myself from the lingering drama that is job apps, I decided to play Avatar University. I decided to name my characters after Diana Wynne Jones characters.
I was picking out traits for Tom Lynn (he's not so hot, likes books, loves music) and I was about to try and pick his favorite show when I realized that the default option was already perfect.
Wanna know what it is? Do ya?
SOUTH OF NOWHERE.
I've never heard of the show but THE TITLE IS PERFECTION
People are strange. Usually they're much stranger than you think. Start from there and you'll never be unpleasantly surprised. Do you fancy doughnuts?
