Their dynamic would be lab-made abomination x this fucking guy who has experience the horror, but its literally self x self which is fire methinks. It will add the weird self-love,hate seasoning.

It would just be scu!tommy being enarmoured borderline obsessed with the fact theres a counterpart of himself that is extremely pathetic and sad and c!tommy thinking other him is a bit stupid and weird but nonetheless kind of tolerated him. Well, toleterate, untill scu!Tommy does scu!tommy things.

I think c!tommy kind of give scu!tommy a benefit of a doubt and think he's just acting like his younger self but a bit weirder, untill he realize that other him is some sort of eldritch zombie superhuman that wants to destroy the whole humanity. c!Tommy might also start associating some of the traits scu!tommy has as the same as c!dream.

Yeah call that a soon to be toxic yaoi.

November 1st, 1981, Tom Riddle wakes up in the cave and learns that he used to be the Locket Horcrux, brought to life by a powerful ritual his older self set in place. One by one, his counterparts join him there.

Okay, this starts with a long and rambling and probably very uninteresting anecdote I had in translation class once, but the selfcest question reminded me of it.

The short of it is everyone had to write a one page thing (from HP, bc it was something everyone knew and JKR wasn't showing her whole damn ass yet) so someone else from the group could translate it, as an exercise in communicating w/ the author to get the right intent down through translation. One of the guys basically wrote a character study about Tom Riddle in his artifact salesman era and had a line in there about Tom using his good looks to attract customers. I don't fully remember the original anymore (it used a very loaded word to signify that he both regarded his body as a tool and resented it for being as such, I remember as much), but the translation kinda stuck with me:

"Every morning, he opens the shop and places his smile in the display, along with the honey and the mousetrap."

It's clumsy and a little silly, but I love it for what it is.

ANYWAY, for why this is relevant: I have seen the occasional selfcest fic with Riddle x Voldemort where he's repulsed by his 'monstrous' form, but I personally always felt that he would be relieved to be rid of his face (he loses a useful tool, yes, but he gets rid of something that makes others see him as an object of desire to be possessed and its connection to his muggle father) and fascinated by the new look. I'm really curious what you think: how would young handsome Riddle x adult snake Voldemort would play out?

the scene-setting in this... enormously compelling. i hope that guy is thriving.

my view, though, is that the adult voldemort would hate his younger self, because the teen/twenties voldemort is annoying. his snake-faced form would never have let himself get yeeted into the ether because he was too busy running around calling harry mid to remember what a phoenix was.
