My Top TV Premeire Picks
Throughout the week I will be watching and talking about my favourite premieres that have aired this fall.
First up........ Sleepy Hollow
Most will remember the 1999 Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow. Starring Johnny Deep and Cristina Ricci, it was a fantastic film and I always felt more could be done with Ichabod Crane story. With Fox recently commissioning a revamped look into the 19th century short story I was curious to see how they would adapt it for a weekly series.
Created by Len Wiseman who wrote for the Underworld Franchise and produced by Fringe Division finest Robert Orci and Alex Kurtzman, you see a modern retelling of this classic story. From the promo’s I watched I defiantly liked the direction they were trying to push for. By bring Ichabod and co to a modern day setting
The premiere set the tone for show, showing they could balance the horror and comedy perfectly. The show defiantly has that “Supernatural” feel about it. With Ichabod resurrected and placed two and a half centuries later, everything about the characters seems out of place. From the clothes he wears to his thoughts on modern technology. There’s a great chemistry between Tom Mison and Nicole Beharie on screen as her past supernatural experiences catch up, with Ichabod’s return.
With John Noble expected to make an appearance, I think this show has legs. If the writing can sustain the same wittiness and continue to balance the mythology and horror, then I sure we have a winner on our hands.
Chris Slater
My happy place. :)
