A modern rendering of the Tonnetz. The A minor triad is in dark blue, the C major triad in dark red. Interpreted as a torus the Tonnetz has 12 nodes (pitches) and 24 triangles (triads). In musical tuning and harmony, the Tonnetz (German: tone-network) is a conceptual lattice diagram representing tonal space first described by Leonhard Euler in 1739. Various visual representations of the Tonnetz can be used to show traditional harmonic relationships in European classical music. (via Wikipedia)

My new Noise Engineering 'Tonnetz Sequent' arrived this morning, and this was my first play with it. The high pitched chords are three oscillators from the A-143-4 in VCO mode, fed pitch CV directly from the Tonnetz 3 outputs. The bass is MI Tides, fed the root note from Tonnetz. The sequence is Dark Energy, fed the root note plus a sequence from the A-155 that starts and stops. Then an A-110 takes the third out of the Tonnetz and adds a further sequence to it (one running in an unrelated tempo, which is then sampled using the trigger into an A-156 quantizer) . Instant mystery hour!
