[Headcanon - Empathy]
Parker’s naturally an Empath, part of being half-Cupid. However, she doesn’t use or train that power anymore than necessary to control the flashes of emotions she get. It’s not very strong, at all, because she never uses it, but it does let her be a bit more perceptive to how people are feeling. It’s ironic, considering her adamant refusal to actually work through her own feelings.
Parker: I'm going to fight him.
Melinda: Parker, you can't just fight everyone!
Parker: Yes, I can! We're Halliwells! That's what we DO!
' it was just a dream, you're okay. . . '
Her hands were shaking. Parker nodded at P.J.’s words, but kept staring at her hands. She couldn’t keep them from shaking. Finally, she spoke, her voice raspy, “I know.” Her messy hair hung in her face as she apologized, “I’m sorry for bothering you.
I adore my muse, don’t get me wrong, but, like, Parker’s an idiot. I say that in the fondest way possible, but it’s true and something I’d like to reiterate to any potential partners. Her irresponsibility, cockiness, and insecurity make a cocktail of bad decision making. Just something to keep in mind when roleplaying with her.
Okay, so I was thinking more about why Parker acts the way she is and it kinda circled back around to her actually being very insecure, especially in regards to family, and how she just refuses to actually deal with it. In a way, I think that all of the Halliwell kids deal with at least some flash of insecurity during their life, because their parents are the Charmed Ones and their cousins do this and their siblings do that. Except, Parker just never really works through that. She’s one of the youngest out of them, so she feels like she has all this stuff to live up to.
Her mother and aunts are the Charmed Ones, her dad is a Cupid. Wyatt’s the Twice-Blessed, Chris is the badass demon hunter, P.J. is this wise and better witch than her, Peyton is the baby of the family, etc. So what she does is try to carve out a place as the rebellious, wild one. Except this also happens to get her in trouble, a lot, because she’s acting out and misbehaving, which further hammers at her insecurities. (God forbid she’s compared to one of her cousins or her sisters, because that’d be like slamming a brick on the proverbial nail. (I don’t know, I suck at metaphors.))
So she rebels even more, which just worsens it all. She’s constantly in trouble with her parents, which just worsens her insecurities and it’s not like she’ll actually talk about it, because she thinks it’s beyond ridiculous. Wyatt’s the Twice-Blessed and handles it fine, Chris has something going on with him (probably unchanged future) and is fine, P.J. is her older sister and handles it fine, so she thinks that it’s just her and like hell will she tell her parents about this stupid thing, so she keeps bottling it up.
It gets worse as she gets older, because she starts hanging out with the wrong crowd, because they’re cooler and older and she’s desperate to be seen as this cool, unique individual and they give her that. But they also try to pressure her into shit like smoking, drinking, doing drugs, or committing petty crimes. She goes along with it for awhile, smoking and pickpocketing classmates and drinking once in awhile. Right up until she finally stops (and my headcanon for that is probably Chris tears into her about smoking after he sees her doing it and it kinda spirals there into him learning what they’re up to and convincing her to stop, because it’s not worth it, but she doesn’t tell him the full depth of why she put up with it in the first place.)
And she gets better, a little bit, but instead of hanging around juvenile delinquents, she’s demon hunting at all hours of the day and recklessly throwing herself into fights in an attempt to “prove” herself as this strong and powerful witch, just like her family. She refuses to accept help, even when she needs it, and it’s not good for her, because there’s a good chance that she’ll get herself killed, but she just doesn’t care. And Parker is just so desperate to prove that she’s just as good as her family members, because she constantly feels that she cannot live up to them and that she’s so much less in comparison and it kills her inside. She’s supposed to one day inherit the Halliwell legacy with her cousins and sisters, but she doesn’t feel like she deserves it and she won’t allow herself to consider that maybe she is enough as herself and that her family will care about her, whether or not she’s not outrageously powerful or clever or pretty and that being herself will make everyone happier than trying to be this “who cares” rebellious wild child that is nothing more than a stereotypical image. She thinks that the complexity of who she is makes her fade into the background, because she’s pretty like others and smart like others and she just wants to stand out in her family, which can be difficult in a family as big as hers. And ugh, the babe has a lot of issues and so many of them are because she just can’t seem to see that no one needs her to be this rebellious, wild girl for them to pay attention to and care about, because they’re her family and they’ll love her for being herself.
[Headcanon - Bow & Arrow]
Parker may not be invested in the love part of being a Cupid, but she does enjoy the bow and arrow imagery. It inspired her to pick up archery in her mid-teens. She’s not sure if it’s due to her Cupid heritage or not, but she’s a very good shot.
[Headcanon - Insecurity]
Parker hides it with a facade of confident and carelessness, but she’s super insecure about her place in her family. With so many cousins, she worries that she’ll fade into the background, so she tries to avoid that by acting out or getting into trouble.
