Circe had been searching for Mel for ages. Her soul was soaked and bloodstained from the beasts she had to kill on her journey, and she was sure that her magic was running thin from the excessive use. The godling needed to rest, but she wouldn’t until she found her girlfriend. She knew she was near. Just behind the next door, she can feel it. Circe can feel Melinda and all the fear radiating off of her like a beacon of light. 

She opened the door, looking into the dark room with narrowed eyes. Unable to see a thing, Circe opened her palm and summoned a flame to bring light to the room.

“Hey, kid. I uh didn’t know what to get you, but I figured I can’t really go wrong with money and letting you pick out dinner tonight.” Emma said as she handed an envelope with a little bit of cash in it to Melinda. “Happy birthday.”

Circe nodded in the darkness, tucking Mel’s hair behind her ear. “Of course,” she replied, pulling the Mel closer and pressing her lips against her forehead. She raked her fingers through her hair, sighing deeply. She wanted nothing more than for Mel to feel comfortable enough to fall asleep again, and wouldn’t leave until she did, although she felt that she wouldn’t be going anywhere anytime soon. “Do you want to talk about it?” She asked, kissing Mel’s forehead once more.
