Baker’s goods
⇥ note: this is a spoiler/trailer to the fanfic I’m writing on Wattpad right now, I’m making this an x reader, but I’m not sure who the guy should be yet. I’m thinking Denki, but aaaa I can’t decide!!! (I really wanna do Katsuki but I feel like I can’t write him accurately)
Even with the warm aroma the shop gave, you couldn't help but not feel what you expected. The orange array of leaves blowing outside the windows served as a reminder that you weren't home, no matter how much you tried to ignore it.
Maybe you'd get some sleep soon, even 30 minutes would suffice, but your brain was still running with anxiety.
Almost all the shelves across the store held various lamps, given that you refused to turn the actual light on, and the curtains were pulled all the way outwards to let in sunlight.
The shop shone especially during this time of year, autumn, when the winds snapped and the leaves would crackle under your shoes wherever you went. The bakery did good year-around, but especially in a populated area like this it's been doing even better after moving.
You turned around, the heavy waft of all the baked goods your dad started on this morning hit you at once.
Not many people stopped by today—luckily no one rude yet.
The bell hanging over the door rung, gently, but loud enough for you to turn back towards the door. "Hello! Welcome to our cafe. Can I get you started with anything?" The same automatic response slipped out, like every other moment you heard the bell ring.
You saw a girl presumably around your age, she had long black hair that she wore down, and a plain orange sweater hung loosely to her frame.
She approached the counter, a small smile crossing her face. "Yes, thank you. It's nice in here," her eyes scanned across the menu on the counter, her finger resting across where she read.
You thanked her for the compliment, waiting for her to finish looking.
"Alright, can I get a hot pumpkin chai latte."
You tapped that into the register, "mhm, anything else for you today?"
"Hm, not yet, thank you though. I'll probably be back later." She laughed lightly, you couldn't tell whether or not she was joking.
"I wouldn't doubt it, our coffees tend to have that affect."
You turned around to make the latte, but your dad had appeared and spun you back around, "go make a friend."
"Dad."
"Just go talk to her," with his stern gaze, you just sighed low enough for her to not hear then turned back to the register and walked up to it.
"Alright, my dad's getting started on that, it'll be up in one moment." You glanced over your shoulder and noticed him going slower.
"Okay."
You glanced around the cafe, noticing another group of girls passing to stop outside the door than whisper to each other, gazing in and dramatically gasping.
"Momo!" They ran up, almost slipping on their own wet footprints, the pink one jumping onto her back. "I didn't think you would go checking out new places without us!" She forced a frown, leaning over Momo's shoulder to make sure she saw.
Her face brightened up, gently pulling her off of her back. "Don't do that in public," she took a breath, the embarrassment leaving her tone gradually, "I was gonna get you all something after I tried it."
A chorus of "awws" and "so generous!" rang out. You scanned the group. All still looked your age, the pink girl, a girl with an almost grown out bob, her ends bumped naturally, and a silent one with purple hair stood close behind.
"Woah, you're so pretty!" The pink one announced, making you realize she was now looking at you.
The blush spread faintly across your face, you have been called pretty, and you still had the same reaction each time.
Freezing in spot until you reached the confidence to mutter 'thank you' or 'you too.'
“Don’t put her on the spot like that!” The brunette in the group almost blurted out. She looked at you, “she is pretty, but don’t say it so..” she pondered, thinking of the word.
The purple haired one piped in “abruptly?” The brunette quickly nodded.
Your dad then approached from behind, handing you the girl’s latte.
