Me to my husband: Stop googling Ziggy's symptoms. Stop reading the internet about what could be wrong. People have been raising kids for hundreds of years before the internet. You're going to make yourself crazy. He's fine!
Me five seconds later: don't you dare take away my video monitor!

Seven Dangers Associated with the “Always On” Generation
The “Always On” generation or the Gen Y is in effect day and night, gazing into the screens of its smartphones and watches, tablets, Chromebooks, and desk top computer, browsing and manipulating hundreds of Apps, videos, and other online programs.

More on the Light Therapy Ad
From last week, if you are familiar with analyzing advertisements and watched the Neutrogena Light Therapy Mask treatment video, you can see I missed a lot of potential details to analyze. No fear, because there’s a Part 2. From the beginning of the ad, as stated last week you are hit with an emotional appeal of humor, yet as I’m sure you all noticed, Olivia is a beautiful girl with flawless skin. This is known as a sex appeal, to get you thinking that if you use this product you will have just as flawless skin and it will make you absolutely stunning. Now pay attention to when Olivia is playing around in her room, and taking a selfie of herself with the mask on. This implies that the actress isn’t afraid of wearing a mask in public, and can be really empowering to know that you should embrace your acne rather than feel ashamed. By showing that the acne is a part of life build’s credibility to Olivia’s character and Neutrogena’s because they feel like the mask can not only help them with their acne but a beginners step to accepting it. Lastly, similarly to what I said last week but failed to mention, is that the idea behind the ad was focused around kairos and very little on logos. To take a Disney actress and have her feature an acne product, makes this ad appeal to a younger audience that are most likely suffering from acne. By saying that the mask would only take up 10 minutes of their time can be not only logos but an appeal to this audience as well because with so many devices and other ads demanding our lives attention constantly, preteens and teenagers have other things they would rather be doing with their time than worrying about acne. A long acne routine can be difficult to carry through, and even find for someone that has never dealt with acne before, and since this mask eliminates the need for any acne routine other than wearing a mask, and it doesn’t stop you from doing activities you would rather be doing, makes this an overall successful ad for preteens and teenagers don’t you think?.

We are in the 21st Century! A time and place where we have access to almost any type of information or any sort of technology whenever we desire it. Machines and digital advancement have peaked and popularised drastically, bringing forth with it the question of whether there is now too much for our own good?!
Right from the beginning of the Digital Age, we’ve wanted to grow and expand. From the initial stages, business prospectors have wanted to develop more. This idea of convenience and simplicity in performing basic tasks has led to the constant and rapid invention of techniques and devices to aid us to get things done quicker and with more accuracy. With this ever-growing monster of technology we’ve been able to achieve and reach heights of great magnitude, making the world we live in today an era and time of computerised thinking.
However, like anything, there is always a catch. There’s always a negative for every positive and this time we are the ones who will be severely affected by it. I think that it is safe to say that we have now reached a point when there is just too much technology around us, specifically, the media platforms. We are at the threshold of losing necessary skills due to the availability of machines to do our work for us!
This is such a clichéd thing to talk about and I'm positive that everyone has been drilled with learning how to "unplug and spend less time on your phone" and I know how straining and repetitive it can be. But now, I am seeing how important that all is. I, myself, am so dependent on the technology I have around me but now; steadily, I'm starting to see how impacting that can be. With thought and time spent on this, I've come to learn that we, as a whole, are actually deteriorating. We've reached humongous peaks but now I feel like we're coming to a downfall. The downfall of human nature!
Instead of people reaching out to each other, physically, they're making use of air signals to communicate. Instead of people learning how to do things manually, they're using complex and, not to mention, expensive machines to help them. Instead of people gaining knowledge, we're all using "Google" to answer everything for us. Instead of people connecting and conversing with their friends, they're pleasuring themselves with the amount of "friends" or "followers" they have. Instead of doing something that makes you internally happy, people are getting lost in the count of the clicks on their digital hearts.
Something here just doesn't seem right to me and at one point I would've argued back and said that it all helps me do things better and that I would rather use up a phone's battery than expend my own energy. But now I'm learning the importance of a balanced life. I'm slowly realising that every time I come in contact with someone, I can feel my senses being used for something other than scrolling down a touch-sensitive screen.
You are likely to be reading this on some form of a digital device. I've also written this using a device. Whilst I'm writing this, music from the internet is playing in my ears and my phone is charging on a socket nearby. So there really is no escape from the 'digital world' at all and there's no shutting it down it down either. To be really honest, I don't think we'd be able to reach and achieve what we are right now without this technology so there isn't any point in telling anyone to shut off this modern nature. There is just the potential to learn and teach how to equally proportion our lives in these worlds- the idea of placing one foot in each space and developing a mind-sense which allows us to take advantage of everything.
I probably am not in any position to lecture or make drastic changes to anyone's lives but I do want to express my thoughts to the world, taking complete advantage of the online medium! I hope, that by writing out (or typing) my ideas, I can reach out and just express the ideology of a fifteen-year-old and endeavour to see a small-scale of change in this world.
Remembering what matters most for us is the most important! Everything has its positives and negatives but it's reaching the equilibrium that makes all the difference in the real and online world!
It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity.
