Packing up my Japanese Toolchest with my “summertime handtool essentials “. From top left to right, vintage Stanley router plane, Veritas plow plane, James Krenov smoothing plane, Lie Nielsen 102 block plane ( inside leather holster) LN medium shoulder plane, small holder for my additional plow plane blades, two LN block planes, a No. 60 1/2 adjustable mouth and a No. 140 rabbet block plane, the wood fence for the 140 is sitting on top. Finally at the bottom, my LN low angle Jack plane. Besides the standard 25° , I pack two additional irons, one with a 38° bevel, the other a toothing iron. Over the top of this area of the toolchest will be a few tills that house my remaining tools. Chisels, greenwoodworking tools, layout tools, etc… my hand saws don’t fit in this toolchest but instead travel in a leather saw till I crafted over a decade ago. So all of these tools packed up can mean only one thing, I’ll see you on the East Coast in a few days.
