Random question: Is Meatlug a cougar? Since she is attracted to Toothless.

Meatlug is a smart cookie, that's what she is.

Doesn't fly unless she has to. Spends her time getting doted on. And eating. And resting. A dragon after my own heart.  And yes, she likes those young bucks.

Also, dragons live 3482973492x longer than people. Generally.  Toothless might be a spring chicken compared to many others of the dragons, but he's still pretty much mature, and Meatlug has been mature, but they both have working reproductive organs and are… mature dragons. I think that's all that matters to them. :)

So when Toothless and Meatlug did their "demonstration", what was Hiccup and Astrid's reaction?

Shock.  Mostly.

This is happening right in the open and it's a bit awkward.

They share a look and try to back out and give them some privacy but it's Fishlegs who starts wailing. Fishlegs tries to shoo Toothless off his dragon but doesn't want to get too close. He whirls on Hiccup and starts shouting at him about how his dragon is defiling his precious baby and that Hiccup has set a terrible example and it's no wonder Toothless would behave so heinously towards a lady.

Hiccup explains that they're both mature dragons and can make their own choices (though he wishes they did so elsewhere)

Toothless is still going at it.

Hiccup weakly asks if Fishlegs isn't curious at all about interspecies-dragon relations. Fishlegs nearly goes Berserker on his ass.

Later Astrid asks Hiccup if that kinda got him in the mood too.

Yep, it if official. i ship Stormfly with Hookfang and Toothless with Meatlug. Hands down.

Hahahahaha you know I haven't made any headcanons for them.

Other than Meatlug being "rosey-cheeked and sweet-natured". And being older, at least physically, than Toothless by several years (but what's age, anyway?).

She's short, stout, and sweet, but Toothless, as a lithe, broad-shouldered, playful young man still cares about her a great deal. :3

She mothers him when she can get away with it, but he always draws out her wilder side.

What would Toothless and Meatlug's hatchlings even look like?

I know I've discussed this in depth somewhere else before… maybe on Sticks&Stones… but the general idea is that you don't get a hybrid dragon when dragons crossbreed. You get some of each.

So I'd imagine there'd be a couple of Gronkles and a couple of Night Furies in that batch.
