I've been feeling so deeply depressed and helpless about the state of the world lately. I used to be filled with a tentative hope, small but persistent. But we're past the point of no return, and nothing is changing. Nothing is being done. I'm not sure it ever will, and it is far too late. I'm sure we'll survive and adapt, but that won't change the damage inflicted, the countless lives lost (human and non-human), the ecosystems destroyed, and populations devastated. The world will never be the same, and it will be hellish to live through. I wish I could fall back on what I'm saying and try to believe that it's catastrophising, but it's simply our reality. Then begs the question, why bother going on? But even with no hope, I'm going to fight for our beautiful Earth and all her inhabitants.
