Top Sheets Suck and Shouldn't Exist: A Brief Essay

This is my essay about how top sheets suck and shouldn't exist. Top sheets suck and shouldn't exist. What do they do? Where do they go in the comfort sandwich? According to my stepmom, who has worked with top sheets for over twenty years, they go under the blanket but over the person, but also tucked under the mattress. Here's a diagram:

As you may notice, the man pictured in this comfort sandwich is sad. Why, you may ask? Elementary, really. The comfort sandwich is not comfortable in the least! The man has a fuzzy blanket, but the top sheet keeps the fuzz from touching him, defeating the purpose of the fuzzy blanket entirely. Furthermore, the man's feet are trapped beneath the unnecessarily tucked top sheet, causing them to overheat and be squished. Now, some may argue that the top sheet actually belongs beneath the person, on top of the sheet. It is, after all, a top sheet, is it not? But riddle me this! When the top sheet inevitably gets untucked, there are no boing boing corners to make retucking easier, as pictured in the diagram below:

This can result in a multitude of unfortunate events, some of which include: Struggling to retuck top sheet; Giving up on/not bothering to try retucking top sheet and sleeping on a loose slidey top sheet; kicking top sheet into a little mound in the corner of your bed and then having a little mound in the corner of your bed forever; etc.

In conclusion, top sheets suck and shouldn't exist. Thank you for your time.

Why have baby boomers made top sheets on beds into such a big deal just because a lot of millennials don’t use one because a lot of us feel it’s a waste of money and unnecessary? Like it’s not a big deal if someone doesn’t use a top sheet.
