She’d been temperamental lately, the members of the court finding ways to crawl beneath her skin. There was a part of her that felt sorry for Bussaba, the other woman sitting quietly and with the utmost patience as Zelda paced back and forth across the floor of her bedchambers, ranting about the ludicrous antics the court came up with next. She’d extended her stay and made several trips back since first returning to Hyrule. Luckily, the border to her kingdom wasn’t terribly far from Hyrule Castle.

Zelda had simmered enough to let out a sigh and actually show remorse for her actions, apologizing for having talked Bussaba’s ear off the past two days. To her surprise, however, she first earned only an amused laugh from the other woman. The sound earns Zelda’s attention, golden brows knitted together as she looks at Bussaba expectantly, waiting to hear what she found so comical.

The answer was not one the Hylian expected.

Cheeks flush as she averts her gaze, though there was no suppressing the smile that tugged at her rosy lips. “Thorns and all? I cannot think of a single person that actually loves and appreciates thorns,” she remarked, shooting Bussaba a playfully skeptical look before sighing once more. It would be best at this point to forget the events of today — put them behind her so as to not let them ruin her evening. She still had several hours to try to find enjoyment before she would permanently retire to her bedchamber for the night.

Smiling in defeat, she moved across the room to take a seat on the edge of her bed next to the other woman. “Enough about my day and the court! I do not wish to bore you! And there are better ways to spend the time! What shall we do?”

" okay okay i'm almost done ! " please don't go anywhere ; timothy couldn't be happier at the fact they had crossed paths again , and what an opportunity for him to cook once again now ! if he remembered correctly , his friend liked fish and spices . meal based off of that and making sure to properly season it the gerudo way . he's still a bit of an amateur at plating , but it didn't look horrible or unappealing .

" here you go ! as promised ! or at least . . . i think i agreed to cook something like this for you . y'know . . . that time we . . . met back at - anyway , dig in ! let me know what you think , please ! " admittedly he did use some goron spice to give it that bit of a punch , though unsure at how good her tolerance for spiciness was , he kept it somewhat in the middle .

he's blissfully unaware of her thought process , of what that particular attention to his ring finger could mean or even what she meant regarding the colors . just knowing she was as comfortable and content where she was as him is enough for the dragon knight .

finally there's a response , a hum as he stays in thought with her words and he looks over at the rest of him . " do you really think so ? " volga had mistaken that slip of hers as an opinion regarding his armor choice , even if he wasn't wearing it in that particular moment .

" gold had always made more sense to me because of fire . . . " oh to be so ignorant about the hint bussaba had given , accidental or otherwise . volga simply keeps thinking on how it wasn't even his choice about the armor's color , as it was given by the goddesses when being reborn .

The Forest of Time.

It had been a while since he'd last been here, of course now he wasn't alone this time around. He hoped in some small way that he could go see Lake Kolomo with Bussaba, it had been a beautiful place and part of the Garden of Time in his original era. It was strange to relive the echos of time in the world of the living, but he put these thoughts aside.

The travel had been quiet, which was fairly uncommon between Chabah and himself, as he desired soaking up the sounds of this forest. Wanting to remember them.

Something caught his eye, not too far off the trail ahead. He really only needed that split second to realize it was indeed a person. He sat up a bit straighter in his saddle and his ears canted forward, " Chabah, do you see? We should check on them.. "

When the Princess of Hyrule received word from one of her maids that someone was waiting for her in her study, she’d quickly departed from her meeting with one of the court members to head there. Opening the door, she was more than a bit stunned at the sight of the woman standing there before her.

“Bussaba?” The name rolled from her tongue in question, carrying with it a list of queries Zelda had not vocalized. What was she doing here? Why hadn’t she informed the princess that she would be traveling to Hyrule? Had something happened?

Though Zelda would always be delighted to be graced with the presence of an old friend, she could not ignore the alarm that clawed at her at the suddenness of it all. She had not seen the woman in over a year, and it seemed unlike her to suddenly turn up in Hyrule without an advanced notice. 

“Is everything alright?”

There had been a sudden disturbance in the Garden of Time that day, not once.. but twice. The first had been taken care of, just a wandering traveler who seemed to have lost his way along the long untrodden path to the north. Trying to find a way across the canyon by means of a bridge that had long been out of service for several years. He'd been allowed to rest his horse before going on his way with new directions to follow that weren't at least a decade old.

Although this second disturbance was particularly odd. There was magic surrounding this one, powerful magic. Given the possible nature of what was assumed to be a monster of some kind, sending out the guardsmen to confront such power didn't sit well with Rauru or Sonia. So they would scout with their guardsmen.

First, they found a cowering Steward Construct by a tree. Clearly it had been in the middle of its duties, the axe it had wielded sunk into the side of the tree trunk. Timidly it scanned the King and Queen as they approached before emerging in fluid, kinetic motion. Chirping in alarm, " Good afternoon, do you require assistance? "

" There was a disturbance nearby, we need to locate the source, " Rauru was short with his response, but far from impolite.

" I shall guide you, " turning and maneuvering through the undergrowth, the Construct led them further into the untouched parts of the Gardens. Startling wildlife that seemed to flourish under the watchful eye of the caretakers to the land. The Steward would stop on the edge of a small clearing, chiming that they had reached their destination.

Before them wasn't anything they expected to see. Two forms laid out on the ground, a Hylian youth and… a Zonai youth? The King and Queen rushed forward, hearts in their throats as they knelt and relief crashing over them when they realized they were both alive.

" Oh, these poor dears, " the Queen said quietly, softly touching the shoulder of the young Hylian, " Wherever did they come from? "

Rauru's ears perked forward as he looked down at the young Zonai, " I haven't the faintest idea, " although the King did not reach out and mirror his wife's actions, " Perhaps they can tell us. "

The Princess of Hyrule had heard whispers of the Mirror of Twilight, an ancient relic used to connect two worlds. The Hyruleans had once used the mirror to banish criminals to the Realm of Twilight, least that was what legend said, though no one had seen such a mirror in ages. 

When she’d sensed that Link and Midna had actually found the mirror in Arbiter’s Grounds, she’d managed an escape from the castle, wanting to personally guard what remained of the portal to keep others from wandering across it — not that she’d had a good reason to worry considering the Hylians were turned to spirits while Hyrule was shrouded in Twilight and no one had inhabited the desert since well before Zelda’s birth.

Still, instinct had nagged at her to make the journey anyway. She’d lingered in the Mirror Chamber for more than three hours, waiting for some sort of feeling or instinct from Link and Midna’s adventure. What she instead found was an intruder wandering into the chamber, oblivious to her presence. 

“These are dangerous grounds to wander — no one makes it here by happenstance. I presume you have come here for one reason and one alone, but the item which you seek has long since been destroyed.” All that remained was a shard, Link and Midna having departed to search for the remaining three.
