think about it: you’re getting excited with someone just telling you ‘oh hey i like this this and that’ which you maybe already know is a cool and great thing. personally, what I like to do and again, this is just my opinion and it seems to help! but I like asking “what DON’T you like?” because to me, thats how you really get to know a person. see we think not liking something is a negative thing, right? so we try to stray away from topics like that because we don’t want to have confrontations or anything. but who is to say discussing differences is a bad thing? I personally don’t think so, i actually think it helps accentuate the person and more of their personality and views. not only that, they might just give you some good insight on their beliefs and how it can maybe benefit you. hell it might even make you realize “maybe this person isn’t who I thought they were” and it saves yourself from connecting with someone who will drain your energy. I’m not saying sharing interests is a horrible conversation starter but hey, try something different and ask what a person doesn’t like from time to time. maybe your experience will be better.
