Introduction...
Hey folks, welcome to my new experiment.. I've been playing Top War for a couple of years now and in the alliance I'm in, you can generally find me sharing tips and tricks with my mates. Not that they ask for it, many times I'm just showing off. 😂 I'm also the Top War nerd in the alliance so it's accepted (or tolerated, you choose).
Anyhoo, if you're here it means you also want to learn a few tips from a self-proclaimed nerd of the game. If that's the case, you're in the right place. So sit back and enjoy this blog.
We start off with a tip to absolute beginners, which is, **decide early on what unit type you'll focus on**, this game is very, very demanding on resources, so specialisation is key. You could try to be a jack of all trades but it will be very hard to be a master at any, unless you have very, very deep pockets.
Something to help you. Army is strong against planes, and it's very easy to have hundreds of tanks in your base once you get to higher levels and start building several units a day! That means that if you get attacked, you could have several waves (multiple successive marches) of tanks ready to fight to defend the base before you get killed off. Army is weak against ships though, so be wary of strong navy players!
"I'll go for navy then", I hear you say... Sure. Navy is good against tanks, but there's one big weakness. And that's space. One navy unit needs six small squares (that's the space 6 tanks take, for comparison). And space expansion is costly, so when defending the base, there are only so many ships available to defend, so you better stand your ground well, otherwise you'll end up burnt before you get to cry May Day! "Oh", you say, "but it's hard to beat navy with tanks, no?" Sure...but there's more.
See that chap in the Airforce suit? Yep. Those folks are the ones you should fear if you're navy. A good air player will give navy a hard time as air (planes) suppress navy and thus can beat them far more easily. Air also needs less space, 4 land squares per unit, not 6, so you can have a bit more units in total compared to navy players! "That's it then, I'll go air." Hold your air cavalry...we need to speak about air's weakness...and, that's tanks... You guessed it. We're back full circle.
So ultimately there are pros and cons to each style of play. Just be wary of what you choose and pick your fights carefully. Good luck, and until the next one.
