"You dared to step into this dark dungeon, where the silence is broken only by the clinking of chains and the whispers. Every stone in these walls is soaked in pain, every step echoes with the loss of hope. But perhaps you already know why you’ve found yourself here? I am the Tormentor. I am the one even shadows fear. My weapon is heavy, but not heavier than the sins you’ve carried through your life.

There is no room for excuses here. My chains are not meant to grant freedom—they bind souls that once lost their light. I am no judge, for your sentence was passed long before we met. And I am no protector, for it is not within my power to grant you deliverance.

I am the embodiment of your fears and the reflection of your guilt. Deep down, you’ve already heard my steps. You knew I would come when the chains tightened around your heart. My hand is inevitable, my gaze merciless, and my axe never misses.

Here, in my dungeon, do not expect mercy. Do not scream, for no one will hear you here. And above all, do not pray—prayers bounce off me like rusty keys from a long-locked cage. All you can do is watch as I draw closer.

"Here is a collection of photos from the first two Metal Attack shows in Častolovice, Czechia, circa 1990. The photo on the first slide, featuring the legendary ROOT, is in my estimation, one of the best photos I’ve ever had the chance to post here. Big boss looking possessed, hordes of thrashers pressed against the barrier and even some impassioned singalongs in the background. The other live photos on following slides show D.A.I. and Distorze. The photo on slide 8 shows Root’s Big Boss backstage with the concert promotor Martin. I have long wondered if these shows were the first official “black metal” festival’s, as the flyers on the last slides declare. Bands like Root and DAI were both already considering themselves black metal by this point and I’m sure the same could be said for some of the more obscure bands on both bills as well. Czech black metal reigns supreme!" -
