Torque Solution oil filter heat blanket for the 98 LGT. Great addition for those with unequal length headers or if you just want to keep oil temps in check. Held on by strong magnets so it also helps with oil filtration. I got the "tall" version which fits the taller K&N filters or the Mazda filter. They make a "short" version for the stock filter size.
P.N. TS-SU-529 (tall), TS-SU-528 (short)
From TS:
"Torque Solution Thermal Oil Filter Blanket for Subaru EJ oil filters is an easy solution to help reduce oil temps. The design of the EJ engine has the oil filter placed where the header wraps around it. This causes the oil temps to increase due to radiating heat off of the header. Our oil filter blanket will help to block that heat keeping oil temps down especially during long pulls or spirited driving. The oil filter blanket is equipped with magnets for a super easy install, which keeps the blanket in place. Another benefit from the magnetic design is to be able to trap fine metallic debris in the oil filter.
- Made from Crushed Volcanic Lava Rock (Basalt) Material
- Easy Magnetic Install
- Helps Catch Fine Metallic Debris
- High resistance to abrasions, oil spills, temperatures and vibration breakdown
- Can withstand 1200F direct continuous / 2000F intermittent heat
- Helps Reduce Oil Temps
- Convenient Pull Tab"
Hell yeah! Every Subaru owner needs to do this upgrade on the driveshaft support bushings.
Just did the 04 Outback (BH) in about 20 min total time and cost -$40! Much smoother shifts are good.
Goodbye crusty old driveshaft bushings. Hello Torque Solution's solid billet aluminum bushings. Something I noticed the car could use when doing the tranny mount.
This was a super easy, quick and cheap swap! It took longer to wrestle the heat shield outa the way than it did to replace the bushings.

Review:
- Initial start up was noticeably "smoother" with NO added noise.
- Gear shifts just feel better and quicker
- Launches feel better
- Down shifts also feel better
Can't believe I didn't do this sooner. Really cleans up some drivetrain slop without increasing NVH. Might be slightly more wine from the shaft heard in the cabin but the car has every other drivetrain bushing or mount already swapped and was loud to begin with. NVH probably would've been more noticeable on someone's car that didn't have such extensive work done. But if your concerned about cabin noise caused from mods, maybe you don't "need" to mod your car. I feel more connected knowing what's happening to the car from the driver's seat, regardless of comfort.
Scored a set of used Torque Solution motor mounts for the 98 LGT. (Currently running the STI/Group-n mounts.) Hoping to remove the front torque damper while still keeping the motor just as planted. Might switch the 04 Outback's to the Group-n mounts now.
I'm doing the oil pan/pickup/baffle upgrades soon on both cars and might as well do the mounts at the same time.
