Been fixated on these two, so this happened. @bigidiotenergytm ‘s Ody from his Final Man to Die AU and Torryn. Neither of them thinks they’re deserving of love, but won’t let the other one suffer.
Ithaca, Greece. This was new territory for Torryn. He had never traveled this far before... But the island was beautiful, and rumor had it, this kingdom was ruled by a teenage king. That was why he was here. He had to see this.
His feline form came in handy at times like these. He could explore to his heart's content as an unsuspecting black cat. As he padded along, he eventually found a young man who seemed to be working hard to... build a palace? Why would he build a whole new one? Was the old one not good enough?
The longer he watched, the more he noticed what the young man was doing. He was building a palace.. around a tree. The tree seemed to be special.
It became a pattern over the next few days. He would watch over this young man while he worked, curious and fond.
Then one day, the man was later than usual. Torryn worried for the king. Was he okay?
A rather sudden 'FLOP' shook him from his thoughts. A..fish..? Ah-- there was the smiling face of the now familiar teenage king. He had brought his feline friend a fish.. what a kind hearted mortal this was.
Of course, Torryn settled in to eat. He wasn't going to turn down a gift like this. The fish was fresh, and he enjoyed himself, daintily tidying his face and whiskers after he had finished with his meal.
From that point on, he considered this hard working man a friend. He watched him build his place, often finding perches that made things inconvenient for the young king and watching in amusement as he tried to dissuade him from lounging on high pillars and the like.
He fed him fish on regular occasions. Torryn saw him carve a beautiful, elegant bed out of the tree.. keeping him company while his family grew, his home became one of the most beautiful buildings in Ithaca.
A few times, Torryn even dared to show his more humanoid form on the island. He never got close enough to form a strong attachment to the King. He spoke to him on a few occasions, but he couldn't get too attached. He was always keeping a certain distance.
The most beautiful thing happened when he got to see this king, Odysseus, as he had learned he was called, became a father. He was clearly so very proud of his family.
However, the beauty and joy only lasted so long.. as Odysseus was called away from his newborn son to war. It was heart wrenching, watching the new family pulled apart.
Torryn checked in regularly over the decade the war raged on.. and then hoped along with the rest of the kingdom and The House of Odysseus for his safe return.
That wouldn't happen for an entire decade. While the man who had left twenty years ago had been bright, vibrant, optimistic... outwardly, a different man returned. This was someone whose light had faded.. who had seen the atrocities humans can create, and then some. A warrior who had fought gods, monsters, and faced betrayal. His family made him seem more whole again, but he had clearly been through a lot.
Torryn eventually greeted him like an old friend, several months after he had returned, behaving as he always did. Like a stray who wandered the island. He knew he could make the king smile. He began to see more of the clever, playful soul he had known. The trickster with a witty tongue and a clever sparkle behind his eyes.
As the years went on, Torryn's visits became less frequent. He knew he shouldn't meddle too much in this man's life. He had been through far too much at the hands of supernatural beings to know the truth about the "stray cat" he had befriended. Torryn assumed he would react poorly, just as most humans did, to a half demon half fae being. The halfling was certain Odysseus would age and pass on, like every human did. He couldn't take that grief.. so he distanced himself more and more as the years went on.
Many years later, after he expected Odysseus to have made his journey to the underworld, he returned to Ithaca. He wanted to see what the island was like. Was it still thriving?
The island was nearly exactly how he remembered it... but.. -- who was it that lingered in the shadows, eyes glowing red, watching over the island like a ghost?
A few visits later, he figured out who it was. He followed the figure, and encountered.. Odysseus? Surely, this couldn't be the same man..
It seemed he had found a spot to sit and give the stray cats attention and love, just as he had once done with him. Torryn decided to reprise his role. He got close with Odysseus again, in cat form.
Though something was haunting about this Odysseus.. he seemed less.. there. Torryn couldn't put his paw on it for a while, but a few days after he first encountered him again, it hit him like a ton of bricks.
Odysseus was immortal now.
Oh this poor soul... Immortality was a curse he knew well, and wouldn't wish on anyone. He had already seen this man go from a thriving young king to a shell of what he once was.. and now this? At least before there had been warmth, a fire stoked by his loved ones... But now..?
The next time he met with the Ghost of Ithaca, he approached with a new mindset. He was going to be there for a fellow immortal. One he cared for.
That was new. Caring for someone like this.
When Odysseus arrived to feed the strays, he made his way closer than he ever had before, sitting beside him and looking at him curiously. This immortal man was sweet with the strays, and before Torryn knew it he was being scooped up into his lap.
A low purr escaped him and he settled down. He enjoying himself, tempted to just keep basking in the affection. What if Odysseus turned him away? He wasn't sure he could take that...
It was a while longer before he made his decision. He headbutted Odysseus' hand to get his attention, and then... shifted into his more humanoid form in the lap of the former king.
"Greetings, Your Majesty.. I suppose I should properly introduce myself."
I might end up re-doing some of the first videos I've done as him once I figure out his costume a little better. There are a handful of upgrades I want to make to him, and Tiktok was big dumb and turned of my duets for a bunch of them. #TorrynKaye #Tiktok #videos #originalcharacter #cosplay #cosplayer #SparrowatHeartoc #SparrowatHeartcosplay https://www.instagram.com/p/CLdAmHtrRv4/?igshid=q475e633vxnn
He tends to deal with a LOT of nonsense. Sometimes he gets a little bit fed up. #TorrynKaye #originalcharacter #SparrowatHeartoc #SparrowatHeartcosplay #Cosplayer #tiktok #videos https://www.instagram.com/p/CLc-6K-LrR3/?igshid=yvn2ufbxfeyz
