General Interaction Rules:
This blog will usually be pretty SFW, but on occasion you may encounter some spice! Just don't go overboard with it and respect boundaries/consent and you'll be fine.
I am a human with a life so I might not always be active here or on my other blogs. I might also be active on one blog but not another. Please respect that!
I love fanart, edits, etc. I only ask that they remain respectful! Feel free to ask me if you're unsure.
I am open to chatting but I am also socially awkward so I might not always reply. I do try my best though!
Dunno how many more Art Fight attacks I'll get done this year. I want to do more but a lot of unexpected events really took my energy. I have to go back to work tomorrow evening and I'm really uneasy about it after what happened on Sunday.
Seattle Shooting at Bite of Seattle Festival: What We Know So Far
A shooting at the Bite of Seattle festival near Seattle Center has left three people dead and several others injured, shocking the local community.
The victims were identified by Seattle police as a 19-year-old man, a 44-year-old man, and a 56-year-old woman. The 56-year-old woman died after being transported to Harborview Medical Center.
Several survivors received medical treatment, including a 2-year-old boy who remained hospitalized in satisfactory condition. Other injured victims have since been released from local hospitals.
Police have arrested a 15-year-old boy in connection with the shooting, while another suspect remains at large. Investigators are continuing to collect evidence and determine what led to the deadly confrontation.
The incident has raised concerns about safety at public gatherings and left Seattle residents mourning those who lost their lives.
I was at work when this happened. I had just clocked in and was headed up to give a coworker her break. Instead we were launched into a lockdown. People running into our theater in a panic, confusion and uncertainty for around an hour. More police than I have ever seen in one place before.
20+ hours later and this Art Fight attack on my friend is finally done! Featuring my Apollo design, Kharmion and Notus! (My friends design!) @justasmolbard 😋☀️
Instead of the new dogshit Odyssey film you should watch Iphigenia (1977). It’s made by actual Greek people and focuses on a mother-daughter relationship to explore how women are sacrificed by powerful men in times of war. Also the main actress has the face of an angel 🙏 the whole movie is available on YT with English subtitles.
hearing anything about the nolan odyssey is so funny. it's like "they cut the extremely important and infamous nobody scene" "the cyclops is a giant puppet that they put in an actual historical cave + gave circe animatronics for her pig transformation instead of cgi" "they dumped plastic skeletons in an environmentally protected location they were not supposed to be in" "they recreated ancient greek instruments in order to have an accurate score" "all of odysseus's agency is basically gone" "anne hathaway actually learned how to weave ancient looms" "the women in this movie are treated like shit" "they actually buried actors alive to get those underworld shots" "did you see what the fuck zendaya was fucking wearing holy shit you can't DO THAT, MA'AM" "what do you mean there was a legitimate epic the musical reference" "NOT A SINGLE FUCKING GREEK WAS CAST IN THIS MOVIE"
like did nolan have two guys standing at his side at all times whispering ideas in his ear and one told the truth and the other told lies and they didnt tell him which was which until they wrapped production cause
The “nobody” scene in the odyssey is absolutely not just a clever pun—it’s a character defining moment for Odysseus because he refuses to be nobody. He devised an incredible plan that worked and he could have saved his men and returned home much sooner but he just had to yell to the cyclops that he isn’t nobody—he’s Odysseus, king of Ithaca so now Poseidon knows who to curse which severely fucks up the rest of the journey.
The “nobody” scene highlights both Odysseus’s cleverness but also his arrogance and those two traits define Odysseus throughout the entire story. It’s a foundational aspect of Odysseus’s character and cutting the scene displays a shocking level of ignorance and disregard for the themes in the source material.
Something about Christopher Nolan shooting The Odyssey in only IMAX film sits kinda weird with me. Like what do you mean everyone else who doesnt have access to the 41 big IMAX screens (34 of which are in the North American continent (there's only 1 screen that size in Australia (where I live), 6 in the continent of Europe, and NONE in African/Asian countries)) will not be able to see the full frames of the movie? Will not be able to see the whole movie as intended?? Feels... I don't know. Elitist?? Classist? Definitely giving me something and it's both feeling weird and icky.
and I made this within 5 minutes of returning. so I think that sums up my thoughts on it. (though im willing to rant more if ppl want it. cause I have COMPLAINTS)
In light of the Odyssey movie coming out this is my formal PSA that Helen of Troy is actually Helen of Sparta, Troy is the city she was stolen and brought to. The entire Trojan war is the Greeks trying to get her back from Troy, because she is from Sparta. I feel like we all collectively forget this.
